    04A62 Found today

We found a 04A62 today. It is a 2018 V6 3rd gen Tacoma. So that means that there is a new TSB update for 2018 trucks.
This is the first truck we have seen with it, so I submitted the ECU and TCU files to OVtune/Vftuner to get it supported in the future updates.
If you have a 2018 and want to keep your truck tuned, Do Not update to 04A62 yet. I will let you know when we get support for this ECU in Vftuner.
As soon as it is added to VFtuner, I will make the KDMax tune for that ECU ID.

Tks, Kreg. The tune I have is customized a bit. Posdible to keep my tweaks in the new tune for 04A62?

Be good to know what the reason for the CALID update TSB is. @tonered?

2016 through 2018 ATs are the only ones out in the cold. Everyone else has an update to a calibration similar to 04B33, including all of the MTs.

04B05 is shipping with new ECUs, but a TSB or the CUW have not been released yet.

I get that, but does this update do the same or does it fix another issue?

There's no way to know until peeps post up. But, I can tell you that 04B14 on mine was working like 04B33 and 04B82 folks were saying. It would be amazingly silly for the 2016 through 2018 ATs to not get the love, esp when the MTs did.

Yes, I can put your settings in when the time comes.
But it does make me think about that old saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Agreed. Especially since Toyota’s main goal is still to get the truck into the highest gear as soon as possible. (Unless they’re now using the KDMax values for their shift points :D) The new update might be good for the MT gang but will just re-introduce the bogging for the AT (those pesky speed/shift points).

Curious what was changed in this update. I’m on 04A61 but don’t want to find out the hard way and suffer until it’s supported.

There is a 04b05, BUT it is not a TSB update. It is only being put on replacement ECU's.
So if you bought a new ECU for some reason for a 2016-2017 Auto transmission truck, you would get 04b05.

So far, We have not seen 04b05 out in the wild while tuning trucks.
I have 04b04 and I am running the KDMax tune on my truck (obviously) and I am happy with the way it is.
I enjoy driving my truck! If I thought that I could get some kind of improvement with 04b05, I would buy that ECU for my truck.

I just got my SLT tune on my 2017 Tacoma Off-Road and I can't be happier. Thank you to @Phich (Chris), for the excellent transition to KDMax.

I think I may have finally dialed in this tune...

The trick for me to see improved MPG was to set the cruise at 65 mph and forget about getting anywhere fast. With that, I could see 17.5 mpg. If I use the pedal and push past 2k RPM, I drop to around 15. If I go hard on the pedal (which is fun with the tune) I'm anywhere from 12-14.

It took a lot of miles of learning for the tune to finally to settle in. And, with the addition of a speedo calibrator I'm a lot more confident in these numbers.

    TRUCK DETAILS
2017 TRD OR, Hard shell topper loaded to GVM (6k lbs)
33" Duratracs aired to 40 psi
KDMAX 6.0 tune on reg tip w/gear lock
    East coast, moderate incline driving

Thanks to @SearArtist and @PapaRee for your patience, commitment to a quality product and customer interaction.

I agree with this. I have a bone stock 2020 DCSB OR with an ARE topper and I set the cruise at 105km/h (65mph) and was seeing 9.1l/100km (26mpg) with a moderate tailwind.

I don't expect to hit this all the time, but I'm easily hitting under 10l/100km when I'm on the highway.

Hey guys/gals, so I finally dropped in my new tune. Was a little leary because the pictures in the VFtune manual look different. They probably printed the installation guide a couple of Windows upgrades ago.

Anyways, hooked up a battery charger, laptop power supply and "sent it"! The pictures in VFTUNE looked different than my computer laid out ( IBM laptop), but the options where the same. Just located in different location on the GUI. Trust me I was scared as shit to brick my new truck with 1300 miles.

Leap of faith after hitting the "calibrate ECU" button and about 1 minute later, done

Let her idle for 10 minutes to learn that and took a quick drive. Holy shit! Night and day difference. Like my previous tuned truck (16 Colorado), didn't realize how huge that tune was before I unmarried it before the trade in so I could resell the Diablosport tuner and BNR custom tune pack.

That truck, like the Tacoma, was downright bad from the factory. Annoying yes and dangerous as well. Nothing like slamming the throttle when you need it only to have a delay, then downshift and scream to an unusable gear. Wtf?

I've only got 150 miles on this tune (regular light tip in) but already I know it is stought. The Colorado had low miles (45k), S&B closed CAI, and Magnaflow cats. This tune already surpasses that. I'm not looking at any other mods except a K&N air filter.

Keep you posted after I get more tanks through her.

I know this has been discussed on here before but I can't seem to find it despite scrolling back dozens of pages of this thread.

If memory serves me, the regular gas tune can learn up to 90 octane? But the premium can't learn below 90? Is that right
