It is a little more power—approx 10-15 hp. But it is not enough to justify the gas prices. I have driven both and I recommend using the regular octane tune and run whatever gas you want. The tunes are octane learning and will adjust. Premium just adjusts higher.

If I update my 2018 ecu to the newest update will it affect my tune? Gonna do fuel ump recall and gonna ask Toyota to update it. But if it does then probably not

If you change the ECU calibration you will lose the tune you currently have and be reverted to factory stock tuning until you can reflash. 04A61 is the latest 2018 AT calibration that has a KDMAX tune written for it. 04A62 is the newest calibration but is not yet supported by VFTuner and has no KDMAX tune written for it.

wiljayhi is correct no support for 04A62 so you will be on stock 04A62 until its supported.

I’m sorry if this has been discussed, I haven’t read this entire thread.

    I recently bought a 2021 Tacoma trd off-road…

Ive owned Tacoma’s for most of my adult life and I’m pretty disappointed in my new ones shifting performance.

I fight it on the highway to get going and it shifts often at low speed.

I’ve got about 4200miles on it. Should I drive it longer to seeing it gets better or do the tune.

    I’m in New England.

    Thanks
    Steve

Get the tune. You wont regret it. I've had it for about a month now and I still grin everytime I drive it.

I’ve been tuned since Apr and I’ve become accustomed to it. I don’t remember what “stock” driving was like. This tune is now “normal” to me and I also smile every once in a while especially going up the grades in overdrive.

We do not have a tuner in Nor Cal. We do have a tuner located in Reno. You could reach out to him see if he can meet up. I would make a trip up north if i can get at least a group of 5 or more. What is your location?

I’ve been in contact with the Reno guy I’m terrible with remembering TW names. I’m in Sac too. We are trying to align schedules soon to meet up closer to Sacramento.

@TWTaco I'm located in Fresno. I'd be glad to be on the list if you make a trip up here. If @Mossman6 & @justrussell wanna jump in then we just need two more. Anyone else wanna jump in?
