Thanks for the quick review, Alex. More low range torque and not having to downshift on any sort of uphill climb sounds exactly like what I’m missing.

Time to see when @trdquoc will be back in San Diego… :spending:

    Thoughts on this?

Question, Paul. What will the ECT button do after the upgrade to Sport Throttle? Is it going to be like a “Turbo”?? lol

Is it also possible to upgrade to KDMax Pro - Sport throttle and make the ECT button the Regular throttle or vice versa?

The ECT is set to a little more throttle and hold gears a little longer. Mainly for towing and performance.
The ECT is set the same on all the tunes.
I PM'd with that guy and he understands and is going to go with the Sport throttle and the ECT how it is.

KDMAX6 LT since April….just got KDMAX-PRO sport throttle tuned saturday by @Phich, thanks Chris!

Only 70 miles on it thus far with 87 oct fuel but first impressions are super smooth throttle/shifting with great power. I’m very much liking the throttle feel and the “throttle input” to up/down shift. Also has the feel of pulling harder in the 1700- 2100 rpm range as well. 1st thru 4th in city shifting…super smooth! Something else I noticed was that I had what I thought was a very slight driveline vibe at 43-45 mph….for some reason (maybe partial tc lock change??) not feeling the vibe now.

To make a very quick KDMAX-Pro “sport throttle” comparison to KDMAX6 “LT” on my 04B33 w/4:88’s….super smooth, no more “jumpy” throttle feel at times , more torque/smoother shifting feel. I was very happy with 6 but I knew at some point that K&D would be allowed to dive deeper into this tune. I’m liking it! Thank you Kreg and Dave!

I’ll get more miles on pro and give an update after towing my flats boat.

Currently driving an automatic loaner while my MT is at the dealer for a timing cover oil leak and wow does the stock engine and trans tune suck majorly. Can’t imagine living with that everyday without a tune. Looking forward to getting the Pro tune for mine hopefully soon

Look forward to your feedback. What tune are you running Sport, Normal or Lite?

For those who are more experienced with VFtuner than I...

What is the process to Reset ECU and Clear TCU? I flashed the new Pro tune this morning but VFtuner did not allow me to reset the ECU, so I just flashed the Pro tune over the 7.0 tune. Perhaps the TCU needs to be cleared first? I figure I'd ask here instead of hacking around with it.

Initial impressions (15 miles between local roads and freeway driving), noting I went from 7.0 WifeTip to Pro Normal Throttle...

The Pro Normal Throttle is much smoother than the old LT and SLT. The dead spot coming off idle is gone now.

The 1-4 gears do feel torquier, some of this is probably due to the more aggressive tip-in, but there's more to it than than just that. I need more freeway time to see how the overdrive gears behave.

Both upshifts and downshifts are smoother and the overall feel of the truck is silkier.

Will post up another review once I've gone thru a couple tanks of gas.

I was tuned "Pro Normal" and I am very happy with it. I drive 50miles to work "one way" and the difference is night and day for me. The commute is about 45miles of interstate 75+ mph and 5 or so miles of stop and go driving. Last night I drove home the whole way with the ELT on WOW it made things aggressive in a good way. I am so glad I did this tune, makes the Taco enjoyable to drive.

What were the steps you took to do the resetting? I haven’t done it yet with the vFT flash tool but understand that with ignition on after Prepare ECU you can go ahead and Reset ECU, Clear TCU, Select Calibration File and Calibrate ECM.

    Problem chid here.
I have run OV and KDMax all tip-in's previously and now Pro. I have put in about 150 miles thus far on the Pro sport and feel that the Pro version is a significant improvement over all previous tunes. Feels like low end torque has improved as well as smoothness and overall drivability. I will report back later after putting more miles on it. I really appreciate KDMAX's
Customer service, quick response time to questions and concerns along with product optimization efforts. That alone is a huge value for everyone.

I’ve been running the KDMax6 for a while now and it’s been great compared to stock and much better than another canned tune I tried.

My only nitpick has been the not so smooth take off. Often it’s fine but sometimes depressing the accelerator from a roll results in a slight dead pedal effect then suddenly it goes. I’m curious if this KDMax Pro cleans that up for me. Sounds promising from what others have been saying with these recent reviews.

In order for me to run the Pro, do I need to upgrade VFTuner or my ECU? My ECU is at 04C20 and VFTuner is at 1.29. I know there’s been more releases since I’ve messed with it but honestly it’s been set it and forget it with the KDMax6 (which is a good thing!)

Mike i would definitely update to the current vftuner. You should update your ECU to 04C21 it does have a fix for crawl control some are experiencing. Then do a reset to ECU and Clear TCU then flash the new KDMAX-Pro tune. You will be good to go!
Yes the new Pro version throttle setting are much smoother.

With the ignition on I hit the Prepare ECU button and then Reset ECU.

I was in a bit of a hurry and didn’t document the message that came up after trying to Reset ECU, but I tried it a couple times with the same result.

@PapaRee , @TWTaco , should the tune be flashed first then reset?. I’ve done it that way on rarlier version flash tools.
