I flashed the Pro tune (normal throttle) today and drove it about 50 miles. This is a seriously great tune! I’ve been running the KDMax 6 for a few months now and while it has been a huge improvement over stock, I’m impressed with how smooth the throttle is with Pro. The dead pedal then lurch that would sometimes happen at low speeds is gone.

Another thing that stood out on this initial drive with Pro is a bit more power at low RPMs, which is a welcome improvement. The other characteristics of KDMax 6 like the great shift points, no gear hunting, etc. seemed about the same to me with Pro. Acceleration is just so smooth and linear as advertised with this tune.

Obviously too soon to weigh in on fuel economy. If it performs similar to or better than 6.0, then I’ll be happy.

So excited to put more miles on this. You guys have made my truck so much better!

Still need to put more miles on the PRO tune, but I can say this now.

For the first time ever since I’ve owned my 18, I drove my 15 mile hwy level drive to work, and the truck did not downshift out of 6th once. Awesome.

So far it’s been great! And SMOOTH! The clunkiness is gone. Drives like it’s supposed to.

Alright you guys did a fantastic job with this. Maybe there's some placebo effect going on but damn it's a much smoother feeling. 100 miles I just put on it during a drive I've done many times. Felt much better. The truck upshifted into 6th a few times while cruising at 80. Upshifted! It was a bit more eager to get into all the gears though it didn't seem to want to leave 5th if I was in between 60-80 mph most of the time and liked to hang in 5th a bit too long in the 70s. I did do an ECU and TCU reset but I imagine some of this will clean up as I put more miles on it. Also part of that is just the nature of the drive. Lot of wind.

Everyone else ain't kidding when they say low-end power and takeoff pedal feeling is vastly improved. Feels more predictable and I don't have to slowly press the skinny guy and hope I don't just go into full afterburner. And this is with the Sport tune.

It's been a while since a tune has made me really excited but I'm pleased to say this one has. I look forward to seeing how it tackles my shitty stop sign commute. Well done!

I haven’t driven into a stiff headwind on Pro yet, but if it holds 5th longer into a wind I’ll be happy.

My biggest beef with this truck is when it upshifts and then doesn’t have enough torque to hold the gear.

I experienced some of that dance on KDMax 6/7 with 4th and 5th, and 5th and 6th. Not so with Pro. Yet. Time will tell. The trend is so far nothing but net.

When I first flashed KDMax 6, it seemed to me that it was getting into the higher gears too quickly around the city. So, I requested that Kreg customize the shift points/vehicle speed in KDMax 6 so it eliminated any gear hunting and ensured that it would not shift up to 5 until at least 45mph. It utilizes 1-4 very nicely for city driving. Likewise not to 6 until 60mph.I also requested that he put the same data into Pro. So, no shift dancing whatsoever. Also if the head or cross wind is too great on the highway, it will remain in 5th with no chance of hunting up or down.

If you think that yours could be adjusted more to your taste contact Kreg or your tuner and they can get it working exactly as you want it.

He set me up with some more eager shift points for low throttle, 1-4, so I can scoot around on base without feeling like I'm revving. Got enough of those clown cars as it is. Always feel bad asking for the tweaks but he's been great. Haven't seen anything yet that makes me think I'll wanna get some more tweaks in.

That’s exactly what he did for my tune. The revs are slightly higher with plenty of pep for city driving (1-4). Absolutely no chance of bogging at all.

I feel like those changes would be nice. I’ll have to see if I can get mine adjusted similar.

Yes, if what you want is a little different from the “default” Pro tune, Kreg will set it up for you. Send him a pm. He’ll work with you till you’re a happy camper. K&D Tuning customer relations is beyond reproach. (Really good). :)

Hold up there’s a new tune in town? Shoot I’m going to have to check that out. And get vF updated, haven’t touched it since 6.0 released and I’ve been pretty happy with it. It does jump from 3-4 super fast the second it hits 65 MPH even if I’m hitting the throttle really hard to get to 75-80 on the turnpike, but S3 or ETC solves that. Curious how the new one behaves.

I’ll throw my SSD back in the ol lappy that has my VF install next week and see if it’ll update nicely. I did a thing and updated it to Windows 11, hopefully without any compatibility issues (it’s a 6th gen Intel CPU that Windows 11 complains about). I’d love to use my MacBook w/Parallels but vF says no to VM’s and I haven’t done Boot Camp in a while. Too bad as it worked great with the old school Flash Manager in the VM.

My truck also feels like it hiccups very often lately. I’m not sure why if it’s software, mechanical, environmental or what. Plan to take it in to a buddy for a good 85,000 mi physical anyway, perhaps a re-flash on a new tune and clearing learned values will help with that.

    Cheers!

Bought and Flashed OvTune in 2018. I think I started with 1.04 Than 1.05 than 1.05.1 etc etc etc…I have had everyone of those tunes tweaked a bit to make it work right. Finally met @PapaRee and he went to work. Not sure which one of his tunes I started with but each one would require a tweak or two after numerous miles of testing. Daily driving, Towing, Mountain Passes etc. (NW OREGON) I think the last tune I ran was a customized KDMax 5.0
The vehicle runs 33’s w/5.29’s. Catching up on the thread the other morning (reading about 30 pages) I came across the new KDMax Pro. Contacted @PapaRee and asked him “What’s up? Do I need it?” Next morning I had the files and flashed. He actually apologized for taking so long because he was busy working the night shift. I was hesitant because I was pretty happy where he had gotten me and the truck up to this point. Well, It’s only been about 100 miles. I normally don’t reset AT & LV but I did. I can feel the relearning but it’s no big deal. This tune is working Flawlessly. Totally refined. I did not think it could get any better. Can’t imagine the hours these guys are putting into the tweaks and adjustments to make these tunes so good. Thanks guys. Happy Thanksgiving!

Honestly the prompt attention Kreg and Dave pay to both their direct customers and to the guys in the KD Tuning group is what, along with the quality of the tune of course, sets the whole KDMax enterprise apart from and above the rest.
