So I know that this is advertised to not mess with warranty but has any one actually had issues at the deal after doing the tune? TIA

People have trucks at the dealer for significant engine repairs without it being detected. People have passed CA scans for emissions without it being detected. You could always flash back if something major went wrong if under warranty. The tune appears to me, that it doesn’t negatively impact anything related to longevity and might be beneficial to longevity. Most of that comes down to use, maintenance, and luck (unfortunately).

Report back and let us know what you think. I’m stock tune but getting mine done 2/5. I have read this entire thread, and followed the OVTune thread when that was more active, so can only speak to what I’ve read.

I'm planning on a 200 mile round trip drive to the mountains tomorrow. I only have 50 miles on a fresh tune. (Stock to Pro) I will have some good info by tomorrow night. Drive will include 30% 75mph rolling hill interstate, and 70% 60mph state highway with plenty of small towns and long climbs in between.

I had a GMC Sierra prior to my new Tacoma. GM goes so far as to "lock" their PCM's so they can't be re-tuned (at least not easily). I am surprised Toyota hasn't done the same. Maybe it comes down to Toyota not having engine issues like GM seems to have with their AFM engines, so Toyota hasn't seen the need to look for reasons to deny engine warranty claims.
However, if your Tacoma would happen to be tuned and would need an engine-related warranty claim that may have anything to do with the tuning (ex: piston damage due to lean running related condition, etc), then I'd expect Toyota might look harder. Timing cover gasket leak or 99.99% of all warranty claims- why would they even look at tuning?
Not sure if Toyota would be able to see the tune history like GM PCM's provide. I'd grade it a risk you must accept to be tuned. To most people, including me, it's a very, very low risk and well worth the reward. I have the KDMax Pro and wouldn't look back.

Ok peeps! Tune is complete! I decided to go with “normal” tune. First impression...
I noticed immediately the throttle response was much more responsive. I only have a short distance drive on it so far but will be doing about a 3hr drive on it tomorrow. It was nice to do the 3hr drive before the tune to see how the truck felt on the highway.(only have 400 miles on the truck and that was my first long highway drive) Tomorrow I will compare how that drive feels with the tune on it. I’m pretty sure I’ll see some increased MPG but definitely too early to tell. If you're on the fence about getting this done let me tell you.. WELL WORTH THE MONEY!
@G8R_Taco was super helpful, easy to deal with and explained everything to me. He answered all the questions I had about it and I would highly recommend seeing him if you’re in the Jacksonville area. Thanks @G8R_Taco for the great service.

I had the 6.0 tune done last year right before a 1000 mile road trip. Was so glad I did. Had driven the truck 5k miles before tuning. Nice way to appreciate the improvements. As a result as soon as Pro came out I jumped on the upgrade. Great tunes and improves drive ability so much.

I have a 21 TRD Pro with roughly 15k miles. Love the truck ... except on the highway. Constant shifting and fighting the truck to cruise at 75 were definitely the low points driving it. Yesterday I took the leap and got the KD Pro tune flashed and I am completely blown away. I made the 1.5 hour drive to my tuner @dave5623. Mostly a highway drive through some mountains... fighting to keep speed and enduring the excessive shifting the whole way. @dave5623 got me hooked up in about 15 minutes. Started with the sport tune ... gave it a test drive and I decided to go with the regular throttle version. What a difference. Right away .... responsive throttle that has been lacking since day 1. Got on the highway and was immediately taken back by how well this truck is capable of driving. It now drives like every other vehicle I have owned. Gets up to speed quickly and I no longer have to fight the truck to maintain highway speeds. Shifting is smooth and expected. It carried normal highway inclines in 6th and when hitting the mountains shifted into 5th and cruised up as I would have expected from factory. For the first tine in a year, I used cruise control (normal ... not adaptive) and was able to maintain speed mostly in 6th and 5th on steeper inclines. The truck no longer seems confused by gearing is the best way to put it. So .. very happy I pulled the trigger. Big thanks to @dave5623 for fielding all my questions and getting me in and out in no time. I'll join the rest of the folks on here by saying if your on the fence ... and the above points take the enjoyment out of your truck ... do it. You won't be sorry.

Got my 17 OR flashed with the sport tune by @GPatriot about 2 months ago and I could not be happier with the way my truck drives now. It's a joy to cruise around and I will not miss the constant gear searching. If you are on the fence about this tune like I was, all I will tell you is; you will not regret it.

So this isn’t tune related just curious if anybody else has or had this sound. I’ve noticed here lately I’ve had this intermittent ticking sound. It’s louder than the injector ticks. It’ll “tick, tick, tick” then stop for a few seconds the. “Tick tick tick.” Over and over. It comes and goes.

I uploaded an audio recording of it, hopefully it works.

Its normal! You are hearing the direct injectors cleaning, It will cycle on when at idle periodically. Yes it is a very loud tick, tick, tick when it cycles on.

I always through the louder ticking that’s pretty fast that kicks on for about 10 seconds or so was the cleaning cycle? And this is different than that sound. But it could be that. Hopefully it is!

    So. Did 200 miles today
So. I did my 200 mile drive to the mountains today. Guess what? Trucks fixed!

Drove on every kind of road. All speeds. It was great. The highway is a dream now. I can use cruise control! Couldn't before. Amazing. Holds gears great. So much different. I was really looking for highway driveability and I was not let down. The truck now has some power at 2500rpm, that was not there before.

I drove this truck for 13,000 miserable miles. Had every generation of Tacoma/pick-up since the 80's. This is the only truck that I was second guessing my purchase.

So happy i had the tune done. Only reason it was good to wait this long was to be able to go right to kd max pro.

Truck is super per smooth now. When it does drop a gear it doesn't even jolt. Doesn't scare you like it did before. Tach just increases, and truck moves.

Only other reason to wait to get the tune is so you will know what you've been missing.

    Thank you Pro Tuners.
