Get a wide band sensor if you're serious about monitoring the values =)

Speaking for myself, no... unless that one member of the meetup organized the whole thing and brought all the customers in and I didn't have to lift a finger (then a fair discount would be considered). Usually tune meetups are still consisting of X number of individuals that I had to gather on my own accord.

We use OBDFusion to monitor. Use Toyota PIDs. A/F actual.
We monitor everything—coolant temps, trans temps, timing, load, rpm, gear, torque converter, misfires, A/F, KCLV, Knock F/B, etc.

Good info thanks. I know in aircraft engines EGT and better yet if the engine has it CHT are monitored closely, and running too lean can cause the cylinder temperatures to get too high, affecting engine reliability and could cause a failure in some cases. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear we even have EGT. Is oil temperature available as a signal? That would be better than nothing although you do have coolant temp for overall engine temperature it’s not as good as something monitoring temp closer to the cylinder/heads. I realize you have AFR but the proof in the pudding is cylinder and head temps.
I gotta get OBDFusion one of these days, I like to know as much as I can about my truck.

Yes, oil temp is an option in OBD fusion. I have it on my main dashboard.

Very good. Now that’s an awesome screen setup I want that lol! Appreciate the response, will be considering the new 2.7L automatic tune that’s come out one of these days, after my warranty’s out lol.

    I wish..
    Cessna 172, 152.
Learned alot about mixture and EGT monitoring.
    Fun times.
Set the app, get a good baseline based on you normal DD. Then you can compare stock to any tunes and spot any deviation, abnormalities, etc.

Brother was a pilot as well, Cessna 172.
Just looking around, I think my 2.7L doesn’t have an oil temperature sensor, can’t find one on Toyota parts sites or on TW search. Does have the oil pressure switch lol.
Good idea about getting baseline data before getting a tune.

Update: This thread shows a page from the manual indicating that engine oil temperature is “estimated”. Must be derived from coolant temp and other parameters. That’s a bummer.

Been running the KDMax tunes for a while now and absolutely love the way it transforms the truck. @Uscgamecock7 recently drove down to Charleston to update my tune for the new 35s and I couldn’t be happier.

If you’re close to SC I highly recommend reaching out to Nick to get the KDMax tune. Night and day difference!

Damn, that is one good looking truck!
Glad you are enjoying the KDMax-Pro tune! It is a must have for heavy, lifted, big tire, modded trucks.

Absolutely! Typically the first thing I recommend to people when they ask what's the best bang for your buck. I've ran every edition of the KDMax tune now and have to say the Pro feels excellent.

Chad @Beersduo came by to get upgraded from KDMAX6.0 to KDMAX-Pro. He was tuned last July was completely happy on 6.0 but starting reading all the great reviews for the Pro tune! We updated him to the Pro tune with Sport throttle. After his test drive he said it really has smoother response and the shifting was even smoother!!
Look forward to hearing how you are enjoying the Pro tune. :D

Any risks to getting tuned this weekend despite only having 250 miles on the Odo? :D

I have tuned tuned several with less then 100 miles on them. No issue at all. You may have a problem with wiping that "SMILE" off your face!! :D:D:D
