I have seen some talk about the AGM batt files....If I recall, it is NOT a good idea to use an AGM file unless you have an AGM battery right?

Correct. Unless you want your truck to burn to the ground.

20210402_190445.jpgKDMAX test run. 285's stock gears. 4250# truck. 4450# camper. Salem Oregon to Waldport Oregon. Premium fuel, Regular Tune. Towed in S mode. The tune was great. Several small mountain passes. Really need a bigger truck. Actually, just need more power. Don't want a full size for a daily driver. Tune was awesome but going to start saving for some induction. And, according to the toyota mpg on the cluster, 9.4mpg thats without being calibrated by hypertech so maybe 10.5 in reality.

I’d get some gears before induction.

Was gonna do gears last year but it just doesn't feel like it needs it. Couldn't hurt. But I'd think the overall driving and shifting would feel like shit if it really needed gears. Actually today on my way home to get packed up for our trip I was thinking about how glad I was that I didn't spend the money on gears yet because it drives so well, especially after bumping up to 285s. Maybe 4.88's will make that little difference on the mountain passes. Considering gears are half the cost of a supercharger.

Big shout outs to @RedLantern (Honolulu, Hawaii)!
KDMax is legit! All Tacomas should drive like this. Instant difference in throttle response and power at the pedal. It truly does feel like my Tacoma just woke up today. I’ve only owned my truck for a week and a half but knew instantly that I wanted more from the Tacoma. The KDMax tune has delivered. If you are on the fence about this tune then... stop thinking and just do it. Totally worth it to do so. Love my Tacoma even more.

Also big shout outs to @PapaRee and team! Happy camper here!

I’m glad you chose to do it! When you told me what car you were coming from, I already knew you’d enjoy the tune! I could tell on the initial test drive! Enjoy it bro, it gets better each drive

9-10mpg towing that much weight and wind resistance is pretty damn good! And I'll echo @Shellshock and say hit up some gears before induction. A little pricey but truly effective. Nice trailer too - I had a 19' 3800lb travel trailer but downsized to a pop up simply due to towing issues with the Tacoma so I am intimately familiar with what that's like.

Big props to @PapaRee for helping me get straight with the tune. KDMAX does not disappoint! Seriously! What a difference!

Perhaps this has been discussed before, apologies if so.
Does the premium file offer any additional performance over the reg? If so, can someone elaborate on what the difference is? Also, I assume premium fuel will be required?
