    Brett @bcmbcmbcm Came in today with his Super clean Barcelona red 2022 OR MT. Got him tuned up with KDMAX-Pro with Sport throttle + AGM settings for his dual AGM battery setup. Also got the seat belt chimes turned off!!

    School me on the improved shifting. Are you able to program the trans valve body to give firmer shifts ( higher fluid pressure ) similar to the older days using shift kits in the valve body for less clutch slipping ? Also any dyno results on low octane ? Thanks!

    The shifting smoothness is controlled with torque maps in Vftuner. You can make them firmer or softer. There is not currently any settings for valve body or fluid pressure changes in Vftuner.
    The torque maps really do make a difference. The shifting transition is very smooth.

    We did do some dyno testing on earlier tunes with regular octane, but have not on our latest. It was a little better on Premium fuel, but I can't remember exactly how much--maybe 10hp

    Dyno numbers are great but where this tune shines is in real world part-throttle drivability. That’s what you will notice right away. Absolutely worth it.

    I’d like to order a flash device and tune my truck but is it noticeable on a M/T truck? Heck I’m not even sure if the previous owner tuned it, I’m not dissatisfied with whatever is in there now but more is better, right?

    No, a dead battery will not remove the tune. Only doing a TSB update or flashing another tune to replace it.

    I’ve run all kdmax versions for 11,000 miles and can honestly say the tunes are transformational when compared to the absolutely horrible stock tune.

    KDmax pro is refined and I notice no lack of torque in gears 1-4, although it’s no rocket ship.

    In gears 5-6 the lack of torque is improved, but still noticeable. In 5-6, when driving into a wind, I enable ECT and this helps quite a bit.

    The bottom line is this motor does not generate enough torque under 2k rpm and the tune can only do so much.

    Yeah no tune is going to change the mechanical aspects of the engine. These motors are built to rev and running higher rpms when more overall power is needed doesn't hurt anything (other than fuel economy). That's why they guzzle gas when towing. I still wish they'd turn loose a small turbo diesel in the US in them, but it will never happen because of the EPA's stupidity. Could probably get 50mpg and tow a house...
