I also have a MT and curious how much of a difference the Tune makes for daily driving? I would think the tune would be most beneficial for the AT owners.

243 pages of praise. What are you waiting for? I have a '16 3.5 auto 4x4 and hated the shifting so much it only has 13k miles, as I opt for any of my other cars over it. Met up with Paul, got the Max Pro with Normal throttle, and now love it. Much more torque, more hp, SMOOTH shifting, lower idle, and I'm not 100% sure, but I think it corners a little better too. Too soon for mpg info, I will try to update later. I have told two other Taco drivers in my area (unsolicited).

As for the price complaints... Pretty reasonable. The IPD flash for my Volvo was $800, and worth it too. I loved my Volvo before, and now I will spend about anything to keep it going. I suspect I will feel the same about my Taco.

Thanks Paul, and the KDMax team

    huge difference.

i say that coming from the original 3g MT tunes (04B10-04B12) that were just plain awful regarding driveability. the newer tunes on the later model trucks are not as bad as i see reported here. but I've been on all iterations since the original OV alphas and i would say it's worth it no questions at all. back in the day we were fixing bad driveability, now the driveability is better with the stock tunes, but the power & driveability are still significantly improved.

Instant difference in throttle. The 5.29s and performance throttle were too jumpy together.

Drivability with the Pro tune and the 5.29 adjustment felt great once I got out of the parking lot of traffic on I5……

    Thanks again Dave!

Another MN person like me who works from home and needs a reason for longer drives :) Im right there with you, except for the taking the wifes car, my wife has a clapped out lexus rx330, but her commute is 3 blocks to work, and she only works during the school year. Once you get some more time with the tune, let us know how the cold weather MPG is.

I just upgraded to the Pro yesterday. Today I drive from Boulder to Fort Collins and holy moly! Is this real?! I have 33” tires, 5.29, GFC, and lots of armor. Wow! And it drives like a dream. DA65CE0E-443B-431A-B530-C89A47DE95FC.jpg

So totally didn't realize how many miles went by since my last transmission service . 2 years of driving . Well needless to say I thought many of tunes were just not liking my truck or how its set up. I drive almost 40k a year and with my truck passing 150k mi I'm going and I recommend anyone else to change every 30k or once a year . Been running through the plethora of different tunes I've collected and let me say wow power is back . I'm gonna give kdmax pro another go around. I still think kdmax pro sport setting is my go fast tune. I tried normal tip in for my work commute to ease back from zipping around. Which I don't mind it. I should give the lite throttle a try . But man these trucks need nice good fresh transmission fluid for sure . To me $226 a yr to have dealer service transmission , phhh why not . At 5,350 lbs stock gears , 33" km3, and the Washington state coast of rollercoaster I'm able get back to almost 22mpgs . I run premium with every tune . I do 60mph cruise set , I know I know it sucks and people get pissed . Hay but if other people want me to haul ass then go ahead and pay my gas. I'm a non bumper sticker guy, but if I could have one it would say " ILL HALL ASS YOU YOU PAY THE GAS " lol

I'm a little late on this post, but I got the KDMax Pro tune with @Madmax702 in early Feb.

Bottom line up front: Holy sh*t this tune is nice.

For context: I'm new to tacomas and trucks in general. My goal is to have the everyman truck - to do a little bit of everything at moderate capability (towing, overlanding, etc). Like most, I noticed the dead spots in the throttle response, and the lag when you needed to punch it.

My comparisons for expectations were a rented dodge ram from home Depot with a V8 hemi (completely unrealistic) and my wife's 2013 awd RAV4.

I would say that the tune brings my Tacoma to 80% of the throttle response (at normal throttle) of the wife's RAV4, which is pretty awesome. The shifting is much more linear in gear progression. It doesn't beat the hemi, but again - get a V8 truck if you want a V8 response. My mpg's have been a little lower, but that could be due to a) me driving
aggressively since the tune, b) my highway driving having tons of hills, and c) my daily driving being short distance town driving (the ultimate mpg killer).

In general, the tune has made my truck driving more enjoyable. I took it to the sierras recently, and the tune was great in spite of my stock tires.

The KDMax tuners are awesome. Max was super flexible in his meet up times, and professional all the way through. In addition, he let me pick his brain about his awesome Tacoma build. This was super helpful for getting out of my own brain's echo chamber when it comes to my simple build. We spent more time talking about trucks than it took to tune the truck. 10 minutes of tuning, and I was set. Max offered to flash my truck for free to change throttle response and/or gearing/tire size changes.

Thanks Max, I had a blast meeting up with you in Vegas!

Met up with KD Max tuner Allen (@xXgOdLyXjEwXx )in Pittsburgh yesterday to get the KDMax Pro tune done on my 2022 Tacoma TRD Sport 6MT with 389 miles on the clock.

Allen was ready right on time, friendly and courteous and immediately started hooking up the truck and shooting the breeze with me and a couple other toyota owners.

Within 15 minutes my truck was ready for a test drive. I drove it up and down a very hilly 4 lane highway east of Pittsburgh and came right back to tell everyone how much better it drives. It's damn close to the 4.0 now, even though I never drove a manual 4.0L. the truck feels complete. It's hard to shake after having heard it here so many times - the truck should have been like this from the factory.

Thanks. worth every penny. Best part is this is the most effective power increase for this truck and doesnt even increase noise.

MPG definitely up 0.5-1.5 give or take. Need to spend a few tanks. But I can cruise alot more at 2k rpms so I am expecting this trend to continue.
