I recommend premium tune if your truck is heavy with armor, gear or big tires

I think the general consensus is the reg tunes will increase drivability and shifting, whereas the premium tunes will do the same with increased low end torque and high end power.

That’s not to say the the reg tunes don’t provide some degree of increases as well, just not as much.

Yes premium fuel only ,now I can say @PapaRee uses regular tune with premium fuel that way you can use regular fuel if needing to save $$$

I've got it applied on my 2018 (04A61) in the west-Metro. Delano, or as my wife likes to call it, Dela-Don'tchaKnow. I do hardly any driving these days, so only have 60 miles on it. I did the Premium, light throttle tip-in tune. What little I've driven, it's great! The throttle when cold is still a bit twitchy for my taste, but I've been waiting to provide a full review because it seems to be getting better. I'm not sure if that's due to me learning the tune, the tune settling in, and/or the weather getting warmer. Regardless, there is a whole lot more power and oomph to it than ever before. We had high-ish winds (20mph+) on Monday and I drove to Buffalo INTO the wind and it held 6th just fine and I wound up with 18.2mpg. On the way home it was 18.8. I don't really care about gas mileage on a pickup truck, but I know others do which is why I mention it. In stock-form in that kind of driving condition, I can say with great confidence, I would have been doing the 4th-5th-6th, back to 4th-5th-4th-5th-6th-4th nonsense that is the stock tune.

I do run my tires at 30psi in the winter for more ground contact on snow/ice. I just updated them to 40psi yesterday for the summer (they are e-rated so max of 80psi). I anticipate that will hurt the ride some (I also don't care much about the ride of a pickup truck, but others do), but could/should increase my mpg's.

@PapaRee has done a great job on this tune. Best one I've run to date and aside from the previously mentioned twitchy throttle, I have no feedback other than AWESOME JOB! I'm a Be-'Ree-ber (believer - in case that cleverness doesn't work on the forum like it does in my head).

I run 35 psi during the winter here in washington state but just this morning I upped it to 38 psi for summer

Will the premium fuel offer any benefits with a regular tune?

Just wanted to leave a review for @Uscgamecock7

Just had him upload the kdmax 87 tune on my 2017 and my buddies 2019, both previously annoying to drive because of the 33s. I can’t say enough about the difference it has made. Peppy, shifts and holds the gears perfect and very noticeable increase in power. He’s also a very good guy to deal with for anyone in South Carolina looking to get the tune.

Shout out to @wahoobie for flashing my ECU and @PapaRee for developing...Had my 2020 flashed yesterday (2APR) with KDMax 6.0 Prem LT for 04B81 and the improvement in the overall driving experience is remarkable...First things first, a tune (any tune for that matter) is NOT an engine swap...The KDMax 6.0 doesn't magically transform that 3.5 into a big turbo / twin turbo 2JZ, what it does, is fundamentally change, in every possible way for the better, the integration of engine/transmission/throttle and in doing so, delivers what Toyota should have, smooth usable power and torque that you never knew was there for the taking, a pedal that actually responds to input vice pushing into mud, and a transmission that realizes 5th and 6th are there for a reason, not simply temporary distractions on what was an endless journey in and out of 4th...This tune knocked the Yaris out of my Tacoma and is the absolute best value for the money out there in terms of vastly improved performance / drivability...It is transformational...Now stop reading and get tuned ASAP...

With the KDmax tune and you turn on the ECT pwr mode do you guys notice anything extra or does the tune negate that mode.

Really? Forgive me, but how? If the reg tune is tuned for regular gas, how will premium offer more power on a " lower tier" tune? What's the point of the premium tune then?

Just flashed with KDMax 6.0 Reg. on 04C20 Excellent throttle response. Linear acceleration without gear hunting. Truck actually knew what gear to be in and when. Will try Prem. When it's time to refuel. Thank you! @PapaRee

Did you flash the tune yourself, or did a shop do it?
I know Delano well, I lived in Buffalo for many years.
