I went with sport throttle after driving both sport and normal. Your tuner will let you try them both and pick the one you like.

I havent used it off road, should be going in the next 2 weeks, so Ill have some feedback for you then. I drive my truck 45 miles each way for work so I wasnt to interested in filling up more frequently to be honest (Which is what the sport would have done). The throttle response is night and day in the lower end with the normal. It holds gear well at speed, and my butt dyno reports it feels more adequate for spirited driving. Take a look at my build page, and itll show you all the armor and specs of the wheels/ tires to give you and idea of the weight I have.

It absolutely gets rid of the 2 inch dead spot in the gas pedal (you know what Im talking about since you have 35s)

EDIT: I also wanted to add Ive had 5.29s and 35s for almost 70k miles at this point, so the tune is very noticeable for me.

I have been running the Kdmax 6.0 premium tune for a full year, 12k miles. I’ve towed a 5,000 lbs plus trailer probably 1k miles. Tune has been awesome only issues I had was slow speed shifts every now and then would be a little clunky depending on the downshift and throttle input, (nothing bad or harmful). Pro tune seems to have solved that problem, so far it’s improved on the 6.0.
PapaRee is on point with customer service, any issues, and speed of response.

I'm really excited to get it done after I get the ECU updated. On OVTune now, interested to see the improvements.

I’ve been on the sport throttle for some time. I’ve done a ton of trails here in SoCal and it’s been great. Best thing you could do is to learn to left food brake which helps any auto when crawling.

I came from OV 2.0, there is a nice improvement over that. You can really tell if you get use to the KDmax (which you will) then switch back to stock or OV tune. Obviously you will need to have the capability to do that yourself with VF tuner.

Does the newer pro tune have different tire size settings like the previous version? I just upgraded to the lite throttle pro tune and am liking it so far but might jump to the normal when I finally take the plunge to upgrade to 33s from my 32s.

The tune is set to cover stock up to 34” tires. Once you get to 35”, we make changes.

I got my manual Tacoma on Feb 5th. I hated the stock accelerator pedal feel. Following many people recommendations I flashed Coyoza tune about two weeks later. It was a remarkable improvement over stock, however throttle was not 100% predictable across all rpm, speeds and gears. Maybe this is something that only happens with 2022 models, not sure.

I gave a try to KDMax-Pro. First I tried a special version of the tune with a linear throttle setting that @PapaRee sent me. I liked it a lot but it was too touchy. I then tried the normal setting and I absolutely loved it right away.

Coyoza tries to over-assist the driver in 1st-2nd shift. It also does something funky in 2nd gear, like the pedal to throttle ratio changes drastically around 20mph. KDMax does not try to assist the driver in any way. Pedal input to throttle opening is very consistent throughout the rpm and speed ranges. Again, nobody seems to report this so it might be something with 2022 models only.

I haven't tried the KDMax sport yet, but I will at some point.

Also, MPG went up with Coyoza, went up with KDMax.

Question guys and sorry if this answer is out there, I did try searching but found nothing specific on the question. What is the difference between KDMax 6.0 vs KDMax Pro? I have a 22 Offroad that I am looking to get tuned and I am wondering if I should be looking at one over the other or are they basically equal?

KDMax-Pro is the newest upgrade from KDMax 6.0.
    You would want KDMax-Pro.
Go to the first post for info. We upgraded the tune on November 14th, 2021.

@PapaRee I'm curious how the newer tune affects MPG. I got tuned in Tampa last November and immediately lost 3-4 MPG (21 down to 17). Everything was stock besides suspension and a Viper Cut. Not I'm down to 14.5 on the highway and up to 19 in the city, but I'm never on city streets.

The tuner here offered the newer tune at the time, but to be honest he didn't sound confident and couldn't explain the difference. I don't mind paying for the $75 upgrade, but what, if anything will I get in return? Is it truly better?

I have driven on them all and the KDMax-Pro is the best to me. Smoothest shifting, linear throttle, most power. I have never seen anyone's MPG's drop that much, on any of our tunes. If you are close enough to Vic, I would upgrade and see if you get some back. If not then I would go back to the stock tune and see what you get. He can also reset the ECU and transmission back to get a fresh start.

    @the.sight.picture

But Using the break at the same time as the throttle results in fuel being cut off.

Are you guys seeing this? I actually see a warning come up in the center dash display.
Are you simply ‘going’ with that?

I have an MT - I imagine this fuel cutoff would be the same across gearboxes.

I took my 2021 tacoma OR 4x4 in for the 6 month maintenance and they wanted to do a update because of battery drain from the overhead emergency assist ( I have not had battery drain). They said it would take another hour so I said I would get it next time. Should I let them do it? Love my KDMAX tune-------THANKS

If your truck was on 04c20, and they update it to 04c21, it will overwrite the tune. If you were already on 04c21, there is no update.

Ok…. It’s amazing. Like truly, spent the rest of today driving around with a shit-eating grin on my face. If you have any doubts just do it. Got the KDpro setup, I’ll be interested in mpgs over the next few fillups, but thus far my compy claims ~0.5mpg better, and that’s with me going ham on the skinny
