I've had the opportunity to setup KDMAX Pro for several 2022's this past week. Every owner was extremely pleased with their initial test drive and first few days of driving. I look forward to getting their longer term review for posting but it's crystal clear as we all know that 2016 - 2022 AT or MT all greatly benefit from this tune and what KDMAX Pro updates are providing. From stock trucks to setup overlanders, the folks I have worked with are getting the right fit!

Thanks @PapaRee and @TWTaco for the continued team partnership, efforts, and delivering every-single-time!

I have a 22 Off-road that I am so disappointed with so far because of the horrible way it drives and the gear shifting or lack their off. I am trying to schedule with someone now to get the KDMax Pro in hopes that it will turn the truck into the way I know it should be! With all the positive reviews I really have high hopes and I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

You’re not going to apply a lot of pressure to the brake, just enough so that when you’re coming off a rock, ledge, ect… that you’re not slamming down onto your skids or rockers. Same with crawling up, it’s just a slight about of pressure to be smooth and consistent going through difficult lines. If you don’t left foot brake caliper your reaction time to get your right foot onto the brake is a lot of times enough to slam down hard and cause more damage. You definitely don’t want to be applying a lot of force. I’ve never had a light go on and I’ve done some pretty decent trails. For sure trails you could not get a stock Tacoma through. But you also have a manual so you’re feet are going to more around a lot more than in my truck haha. I know because I also have a stock shift samurai that I only use for rock crawling.

5000+ pages, I didn't read them all so cut me some slack if this is already been covered.

So I just switched from another popular tune to KDMPro on thursday, same tuner, and I had a couple of issues today while out putting on miles to relearn:

The first I was out running around town. I was stopped at a light, light turns green I start rolling out mild mannered, 1-2 shift is smooth 2-3 shift is smooth I'm still on the gas to get up to 50mph limit but still in 3rd when suddenly vroom rpms jump way up, 5k+ and I lose power, whoa wtf, it was as if It went into neutral so I get off the gas let rpms drop to about 1k get back on the gas and get up to speed without issue. This only happened the one time, I couldn't replicate it during the other 80 miles I drove.

The second, while getting onto the highway, get up to highway speed no problem but truck wouldn't shift out of 4th, this I could replicate. This happens while being moderately aggressive getting up to speed, on two occasions I was pushing 80 & would not upshift from 4, take foot off the gas and the engine would brake I had to use sport mode to force 5th gear. This first happened after I'd put 50ish miles on so I had gotten onto the highway without issue a couple of other times, again after the 1st time I could replicate this.

Lastly, not sure if its a prob but I very rarely saw 6th gear. Even cruising at 75-80mph I seldom saw 6th gear, TC 1/2 lock/full lock but no 6th.

So not sure whats up hoping for some input.
    TIA!

I'm pretty sure they are gonna recommend a reflash . This can fix these issues most of the time.

Exactly the way I felt about my new 21 OR a year ago. Without the tune I would have sold the truck by now.

I'm experiencing the same issue on the top end myself. Doesn't seem to do it if keeping a light throttle, but moderate throttle merging into traffic of the hi way it does it. Running the Pro sport tune for roughly 3k+ miles

A reflash won't do anything. The data does not get corrupt during the flash process.

It's not that it be corrupt .I'm sure @PapaRee would agree to try a reflash before going any further. I've had issues where old habits of Toyota tune would mess with shifting or laggy throttle response. Reflashes have most of the time fixed any issues with tunes. This is my experience . I'm a tune hoe

A reflash of the same tune will change absolutely nothing though...

I agree with that. I tried reflashing mine twice with the same tune, and issue is still there

A little early, but I just got the Pro Sport Tune yesterday and immediately felt like a rocket! A few issues I noticed, ans wanted to see if it's just me, but speeding up slowly from zero, its jerks pretty noticeable when touching gas pedal, then I feel it noticeably Jerky if acceleration is very slow. For example, slowly driving in parking lot. Is this a characteristic of the "sport's tune? I let tuner know, he said he can swap to the ''city" tune if it just feels too aggressive. Highway speeds feel good, anything above 30 mph feels good. But in city and stop and go traffic it's pretty jarring.

We have had a few trucks that had weird shifting after a flash on the same tune that another truck did not. This has not happened often. So the first step was to try re flashing. It has worked for me and and it has worked for others. The only explanation that I can think of is that the flash is incomplete.
I know re flashing the same tune does not seem like it should do anything, but it has fixed the few trucks that had this.
I will work with you and your tuner to make sure this is what you need.
The only other time that I have seen weird things after a flash is when a reset of the ECU and trans is done. After a reset, you will see weird shifting and some irratic thottle.
Let me know if I can help.

Had the same issues with mine on KDM Pro. It would get hung up in 4th gear on a regular basis and I would have to switch it over to S mode to manually shift it back up to 5th. I also rarely saw 6th gear on the freeway unless it was downhill or perfectly flat, and even then the slightest throttle input would cause it to downshift back to 5th. Unfortunately a reflash didn't solve any of the issues for me.

The Sport tune is not for everyone. You can test drive all three throttle choices to see the difference.
