But that's not how it works (in bold).

The flash process verifies the data integrity after each packet is sent and stored in the ECU. If the values do not match up with what is set in the tune, then the flash will fail.

An option that can (potentially) fix issues would be to perform a reset and let the truck relearn. Otherwise, reflashing the same tune is a waste of time if the previous flash did not fail.

    Thanks for the info Karl.
It has been a while and we have not had any problems after 100's of trucks, so we have not had to do any troubleshooting. I really think the VFtuner updates have helped the flashing process and all problems are behind us. The newest VFtuner software has been solid.

Definitely understand its not for everyone, but mine just feels off. The jerking during slow acceleration feels as if something is off, unless everyone feels this jerking of back and forth during slow acceleration?. Tuner said to give it about 2 tanks of gas, then we can try the "city" tune, which I'm assuming is the "normal". Thank you!

In a safe area, give it some Wide Open Throttle (WOT) runs. It helps the learning/settling process.
    Good luck and Stay safe!

Just towed this baby 80 miles with the Pro tune. I’m guessing I was about 5,700 lbs, plus all my heavy armor and 35s. So max tow capacity for sure.

The neutral thing happened to me after my tune. Only happened once. I talked to Dave about it and he had never heard of it before. Everything is running swimmingly now minus the tc shudder at certain slower acceleration points. Super happy with the tune.

Just as a contrast, I am on KDMAX Pro Lite and it's still a rocket, just a smooth one ;P 32" tires w/2" lift for non-stock mods

Mine was doing that with KDMax 6.0 a few months after I got it. Disconnected the negative battery cable overnight so it would have to relearn. After that drove it like I normally do and it's been fine for the last 5 months. Mine's an auto and it would hang at about 3k, drift up to almost 5k and then come back to where it should have been.

So disconnecting the battery will reset it and the truck will have to relearn the tune?

Seemed to in my case. But the battery needs to be disconnected for at least an hour.

I had the same gripe with strange shift behavior and gear holds, see my post #4861.
I originally had the KDMAXPRO Sport tune but with issues similar to others, I had the truck reflashed to KDMAXPRO Normal, been through 3 tanks of gas now and I have not run into any issues since. I could go back with the Sport tune but I'm happy with what it is now.

    Glad to hear it.
The shifting is controlled by a few variables - throttle, speed, load, rpm. When you alter any of those, you alter shifting.

No, disconnecting the battery will not clear learned values. That can only be done through vF or Techstream. Also, the truck will never truly "settle" (in the sense that most people think). It is always learning and adapting to your driving habits as long as the engine is 176°F or above. The typical "settling" people refer to is the truck taking empty learned values and filling them with data throughout the whole range they cover (RPM, load, etc). Overly simplified of course, but trying to make it understandable for everyone.

I bought KDMAXX tune yesterday and loaded the normal tune. Going from stock to this was quite the shock. Great off idle response and much smoother power band. Today I dropped back to the light tune and it feels like it's a much better fit for me and the truck. The instructions were great and the install went smooth. I am really enjoying the smooth, new found power and no regrets. Thanks @PapaRee

Today my dash said OVER 300 miles left in a tank. It actually said 348! and that was after a fill up then a 15 mile drive home. What is this sorcery you have done to my truck?

    WITCHCRAFT!

Granted... I was going the "easy" way into town and on the way back it went from 16.9 mpg to 12.1, lol. Still, above 300. I have yet to do the manual calculations but I really don't care to. It's close enough. Definitely performing better, no crazy shifting. I cancelled the 4.88's.

Are there any tuners in the SEPA/Delaware/SENJ area? I’ve been trying to get in touch with master yota(Allan) and it just doesn’t seem to be working out unfortunately. Anyone have any suggestions on anyone else? Thanks!
