The KDMax is available for auto and gear grinders.

My question for @greyboxer is what do you mean by "lumpy". Serious question. I think of a lump as a rise in a surface, so do you mean jerky, or delayed, or what. I just want to understand what you are experiencing.

Yes, there is a Pro tune for manuals.
Not sure about that lumpy acceleration though. Never heard that.

My 6MT still has a little bit of jerk to it, not the consistent delivery of power you’d expect. I just wrote it off as my foot isn’t consistent lol

Yeah lumpy is just my rock brain way of describing it. Its like when I give it a straight push of throttle, not a lot, just medium, it undulates. It pulls harder and softer as the rpms go up, quickly going up and down.

It reminds me of when my old turbo subaru used to have an evap leak or something where I couldnt get constant boost pressure.

Anybody in, or close to Pittsburgh available to tune my truck? Seriously considering it at this point.

The Pro Tune feels great, however I've noticed that when there is a headwind or if I encounter any sort of hill/incline, the truck struggles to maintain 65-70 while cruising in 5th, usually has to shift to 4th. I am on Stock gears with the Pro Tune. Would re-gearing (4.88 or 5.29) along with the Pro tune help add back in some power/torque for freeway cruising? Would like to hear if others have experience with the tune before and after gears and could share their experience.

For more info, I am currently running 33in MTs, lifted about 2.5in, and carry about 350lbs in the bed constantly.

If I were you, I would try the KDMax-Pro+ first.
Get with the person who tuned you and try it out. Seems like it would be better for your truck.
Getting gears is also an improvement. There are many people out there that will agree that getting gears helps with holding gears.

Thanks Kreg for the suggestion! What does holding gears longer mean? Would the truck just rev a little bit higher (similar to ECT) throughout and just shift into higher gears later than it usually would?

Let's say I was cruising at 70 and approached an incline. In order to maintain speed the truck currently tries to accelerate in 5th, nothing happens so I press the pedal down a bit more and it goes into 4th to maintain speed. With the Pro+ would the truck just shift into 4th sooner with the same pedal input, instead of lagging in 5th a bit before downshifting?

By raising the shift points, it holds the appropriate gear at the speeds that seem more natural. There is always that point where it needs to downshift, but this change makes it hold it a little longer. It is similar to ECT, and on the Pro+ I raised the ECT a few mph too.

Nice, cool to hear that it is similar to ECT and ECT has been raised as well. With the PRO+, would the truck see 6th gear even less than it does now?

Yes, as long as you are accelerating. But once you get up to speed on flat highway, it will go into 6th.
It is not for everyone, but I like it!

I am looking at a tune in the near future but will likely need a new battery much sooner. I want to upgrade to an AGM. Would I be able to modify the charging voltage with the tuning software alone? I want to keep the factory tune for now and charge battery to 14.5v.

Yes. VFtuner has the ability to modify the charging voltage. When you are ready, PM me and I can help.

I live in Northern Cali and getting the tune has been the best decision I have made since buying my truck. I drive I5 a lot and where I am there are many hills, my truck doesn't get out of 5th very often. I also have adjusted my MPH due to the gas prices, so I'm getting around 17.3mpg.

Mine does the same thing. 265/70-17 ridge grapplers with a 2" lift and the rest is stock. No added weight but it still seems like a chore to keep it around 70 mph without the constant downshift if there is any wind or just an overpass. And just forget cruise control ! It is absolutely useless in my truck. I use regular cruise on flat roads and it will go to 4th and stay there indefinitely until I tap the pedal. Then 1/2 mile later same thing

Try engaging ECT when you’re driving into a wind. If that helps, it sounds like the Pro+ tune may be the way to go.

I’m on the fence but thinking about trying the Pro+ too.

I’ll have to try that. Guess I just expected to put it in d like every other auto trans and go but as usual this truck takes a skill to drive. The tip in is already almost too aggressive so not sure about pro+ Tried the lite tip first and settled on normal

Pro+ is pretty killer. I've tuned 2 customers with it so far and they both agree. They're pretty ecstatic about it too.
It even helps if you have more wind drag then normal, like with a roof rack as I do.

    PRO+ Questions:
    1. Are all three of the throttle settings still available with the Pro+ Tune, or is it just one of them?
    2. Have you noticed a difference in gas mileage?
I have the standard Pro tune with light throttle and really like it, but living in Denver and driving to elevations over 10,000 feet fairly regularly, I’m looking for the best possible option to minimize gear hunting.
