Sounds like you will love the KDMax-Pro+ and if it needs to be adjusted, we can make it hold gears longer if you want.

So we can hard-set shift points and that will survive any of the learning behaviour?

As far as I know. Mine still shifts at the same shift points where I set them. I have never had any bad learning behavior. My tune has always stayed the same and learned in a good way.

    Ok, interesting

I've used the following tunes, where the shift points immediately degrade:
    OVtune
    Overlander

Can anyone else comment on this behaviour?

Within 2 day of getting the tune, the shift points are terrible: like 4th@25mph (the truck just LOVES to cruise at 1000rpm which I hate).

Do you have VFtuner to flash your own truck?
If so, PM me and we can let you try it out on your truck.

I’ve been running a KDMax tune (6 & Pro) for about a year. The shift points are still where @PapaRee put them. I told him what speeds I wanted the shifts to happen and it all worked out. Still going strong a year later.

    Ok, amazing!

I wonder why with these other two tunes I have this issue?

They might be set to shift at too low a rpm. Mat himself once said that he couldn’t make his tune to shift at the correct rpm because too many thought it might be too high. KDMax Pro is just about perfect in that regard.

Little of this, little of that.
I’m so glad I decided to pop on TW for the first time in awhile, I just flashed the new PLUS tune with Lite tip in and holy shit it’s amazing! I can’t express how important this tune is for the Tacoma, if you want one end-all-be-all upgrade, this is the mod to have! Thanks @PapaRee for the amazing work you do!

First day on TW and thankfully got turned onto the KD Max Pro tune for my [new to me] 2020 4x4 TRD OR!
Located in Orlando and wanted to see if @HCFR TACO22 or @G8R_Taco would be able to help me out with a tune and direction on which "flavor" to pursue.

I've had my KD Max Pro + normal tune for a couple of weeks now and my shift points have not changed since getting it. If anything it is only shifting smoother during learning. It shifts at different speeds now, which I like. On stock tune I was getting 3 shifts to third before 30 mph and rpms were dropping to 1000. That is entirely too low. Now I don't hit 3rd till 35 or 36 mph and rpms only drop to 1300 or so leaving you with more power after shifting. I haven't even tried the ECT or S Mode yet as I haven't needed them. The other real noticeable difference is that I don't have to wait on a downshift after making a turn. The tranny and throttle stay connected for a smooth downshift, if needed. Many times RPMs stay high enough that a downshift isn't needed. I believe it is the transmission changes combined with eliminating the throttle lag that make the tune successful. It is not much money to give it a try.
