    VFTUNER-SERVER IS BACK UP!

It should stay that way. Anyone who was having trouble with the server today should be good to go.

Just loaded up the KD Max pro+ tune yesterday. I have been running the Pro for a few months and it ran as the best tune to date. The + tune feels like I don't have to give it nearly as much pedal to get moving. I got on the freeway and was pleasantly surprised that the truck had more balls than the previous tune. I have the lite tip in with no jerkiness at all.
Smooth as butta and shifts as well.
Truck seems to run quieter as engine revs seem to be lower.
Running a completely stock Sport with stock Falcon tires.
    Happy camper.

Just wanted to join the chorus of praise. I had barely heard of this tune up until a couple months ago while I was surfing tacomaworld and this mod wasn't even remotely on my radar but after seeing nothing but good things I decided to make the jump and bump it up my priority list. I'm so glad I did because I loved my truck but the driving experience was always lackluster especially when I split time between my taco and my wife's v8 tahoe that hauls ass. I want to thank @Phich for knocking out my pro+ tune (normal throttle) real quick on a busy Saturday. I've driven a couple hundred miles on it so far and this has been the best value power mod I've done considering I have a CAI and exhaust. You feel the power immediately after and the truck feels like a crackhead because you can tell its always ready to go haha. I used to have to have my throttle halfway to the floor to feel anything and trying to cruise without RPMs bouncing all around the place was a nightmare. Now I have the power when I need it and I can cruise and keep a steady RPM range by barely feathering my throttle.

I tuned my truck yesterday.....So how shall I start my review of KDMAX-PRO tune? Simply....Amazing. On the first drive yesterday, I couldn't wipe the grin off my face. The truck is completely different and a pleasure to drive, even at highway speeds. It behaves the way it should: no more gear hunting, shifts between 5&6 at highway speed smoothly, better low end torque, ACCELERATION...wow, I swear it even idles better, throttle response (that I have to get used to as I am used to the pedal lag the truck had before....gone!). I'm sure I'll have more to report, but anyone on the fence...do it. As a first time DIY'r, the tuning process was really easy and PapaRee's support made it even easier. He answers pm's quickly! I have to admit, I was a little nervous doing this myself but now having done it....I'm not sure what I was nervous about.

Now for some history for those interested....I honestly had considered getting rid of the truck. I bought my Tacoma in the summer of 2020 (stock off road, SB, AT, Quad Cab) and did notice on the test drive what a "dog" the truck was and I had heard about the Tacoma's "transmission issues"....but I loved the truck so much and I've had Toyota pickups my whole life and the reliability has always kept me coming back (I owned a Dodge Dakota for a while....nice power, but what a POS). My very first vehicle was a 79' Toyota Pickup....I bought it for $200....beat the crap out of it delivering pizza's (literally like the pizza truck from Toy Story LOL)...it even caught on fire once...I just opened the hood and literally blew it out...closed the hood and kept driving...I ended up selling the truck a few years later for $200! I'm on my 4th Toyota truck now :)

Sorry...I'm really going off my point here.

Point being that doing this tune has taken the one thing I didn't like and I thought I could live with (but ultimately decided I couldn't)...out of the equation. I love this truck now!

    Wow, great information. Thank you!
I drove the new tundra and it was surprisingly great. Shifted smooth and predictable. Maybe the next gen Tacomas will be better!

I agree with you 100%. What is really puzzling is the stock tune is worse on gas mileage than the KD Max Pro + tune. It would be different if the stock tune got good mpg. Sales numbers are still high because we are buying them based on past reputation without a test drive. I would have never purchased my truck off the lot after driving it.

I believe it. My 20 ran superb on the test drive, held 6th at 75 in a decent headwind, I thought they fixed it and traded in my 16...only to find the same crap on the 20 a few weeks later. Grrrrr

Just want to give props to @TacoManOne for meeting with me today. I’ve decided to go back from normal PRO+ to PRO. After about two and half tanks I feel like the PRO is a better fit for my driving/needs. They really backed they’re product. Also, thanks again to all the brainiacs behind KDMaxx tune!

I provide KDMAX Pro tuning locally and across Virginia so I so put some miles on my '16 SR5. I just hit 100k miles and my truck as never run better. After a chunk of running down RT460 to home on Sat evening I am greatly impressed as I have been form the start of my first KDMAX use early last year! With 265/75R16s and a 2"lift I can take the rolling hills and get +20MPG....I am very happy with that! Here's my last segment with 21.6!! Around town I see 18+ and even though MPG widely vary I can say with my truck its been solid.

I think you and I have our trucks dialed in.

3" lift, 4.88's and 295/70/17 and I regularly get this on rolling hills when there's no heavy headwind (speed from 65-78):
    875BD944-203E-48A8-9849-B1D4658F32A1.jpg

Around town is weird - the same, 9-10 mile trip will net me 18 one day and then 15 the next or anywhere between.

Highway is a little more easy to predict and it all hinges on speed and wind direction.

So many factors are at play with fuel economy…

Here’s a fact - I never gave any real thought to mpg until I bought my Tacoma. And I’ve had a lot of vehicles.

EDIT: I really don't know how much my AFE high-flow cat Y-pipe and K&N intake are doing to help achieve this mpg. Maybe some, maybe none. Likely not much at all. Definitely more attributed to the KDMax Pro+ tune.

Awesome! I didn't start using KDMAX for ECO use, but to have the performance AND this potential is just another tick in the KDMAX Pro column. Looking at the whole picture of what we've got really encourages me to offer it to others!!

What mods on your truck and what mode did you go with? What was different from the plus and non plus in your experience?

Can @PapaRee or @TWTaco advise if the shift points are the same with normal and lite modes in Pro +? Is throttle response the only difference? I didn't have time to test drive the Lite with Josh when he tuned my truck. Thanks.
