Yes the throttle settings are the only difference. Shift points are the same.

Someone who watches alot of conspiracy theory videos. However, he does have some truth to it.

What is actually happening, is the "learning" of the computer. When it's on the lot, low miles, the ECU has not had a chance to learn yet, so it's going off stock values. Once you've driven for awhile, it adjusts to how you drive (for better or worse). The whole point of the tunes, is to disable the tuning. You can reset learned values of the ECU and it will revert back to factory. It will run weird for the first bit, and will forget to shift and bounce off the limiter the first time you floor it :burp:

Thanks Dave. I might go back to Lite sometime but it sure is fun to smoke a Dodge Challenger at the stop lights.

I don’t know man, this sounds pretty out there, I find it pretty hard to believe. And I don’t trust car mfg or especially dealers one bit. I’ll have to ask my neighbor who was in car sales for years about this.

I'd sure like to hear some Toyota service techs side in on this anonymously. My dealer would not sell a Tacoma without being prepped. Who knows what they do in prep?. They forgot to run a software update my head unit. Most are being sold now when "in transit" so they are being prepped before you pick them up and paperwork is already completed before you drive the truck. New truck customers are just suffering with the throttle lag and crappy transmission shift points. They know or find out that dealer service dept. will tell you that is normal. And that is partly why this forum has become so popular for people looking for tunes to help.

Tuned (Pro) 4-23 by @wahoobie Thanks!
Instant and significant improvement in 1st and 2nd gear
4th is notably smoother under acceleration to higher rpms (on ramp/acceleration lane)
    No notable impact to MPG
    Summary:
After 2 days and approx 150 miles, I’ve been in 80% of my typical driving scenarios (Cty/Hwy, and a few miles of light trail). I’ve seen nothing but improvement or elimination of most of the WTF issues I had prior to the tune.
    That is all…:hattip:

Doesn’t feel like it has a lump in its throat when I hit the gas now. 3rd goin up hill seems a little more sluggish than it should, but I may just need to goose it a bit more before shifting. Still testing out the flow. Im sure I can adjust accordingly. But yeah, big improvement so far! Thanks!

People may think it's just the autos that see the benefits but I KDMaxed two manuals this past weekend. Both said the same thing after.

    "Oh yeah. That did it."

This is Ryan's new 2022 Sport with 63 miles on the odo with the TRD lift and KO2's (285s w/laces out). Ryan came out to our recent tune event and went with KDMAX Pro+ and the lite throttle for that smooth take off and linear acceleration on demand so now it can run as good as it looks!!

    Just the steel rear bumper.
The PRO+ Normal was holding the gears a bit longer for my liking. PRO+ was better when the truck was loaded and hauling. I did noticed a drop of 1.5 mpg even when not hauling stuff.
Basically the PRO suites me better.

I have a 2020 manual TRD sport and previously had it ovtuned by a guy the comes to my area frequently and was un-happy with it. The throttle response was much better but it was very jerky or felt like it would randomly fall on its face and no matter how I drove couldn't get it to smooth out thru the rev range and grew to very much dis like it and eventually had him take me back to stock on his next trip through Florida.
I'm interested in getting this one based on all the positive feed back and benefits it could have when I increase my tire size but worried about being unhappy with it like the first one.

Have any manuals guys been unhappy with this tune?

Hello Jacob, I am happy to report that the MT owners I have worked with (3 just this past Sat added to that) were very pleased with the low end power increase and the greatly improve throttle control KDMAX Pro gave them. We've and I highly recommend the tune based on the owner feedback I've received.....we have learned a lot since the original OVTune days!

Sport is the preferred KDMAX Pro MT throttle but of course there 2-levels lighter should you want to adjust down. I have yet to provide such an adjustment to any MT owner....all stick with the higher setting.
