    Really?!
My 2nd gen was an amazing truck stock and did not need a tune. The 5 speed transmission never dropped to 4th gear and “screamed” like you describe unless I literally punched it as hard as I could. Are you sure you’re not confused with the 3rd gen?

I think what most of us are seeking out here is a 3rd gen that drives like a 2nd gen.

truer words have never been spoken.

I loved the 4.0. We take my wife’s 4Runner on road trips because it’s such a better driving experience. The 3.5 is cool, the tunes make it better, but it’s no 2nd gen taco.

I didn't describe it as, "screaming." The owner of the 2nd gen did.

How does this XT tune compare to OTT tune? All I truly care about is it’s behavior on cruise control at 65mph. The constant shifting shifting even when something as simple as semi passing me on a flat road causes it to downshift and I’m completely stock.

The Cruise Control changes that we make are-- upshifting and downshifting in regular Cruise Control (not Adaptive/Radar).
We adjusted them to try to hold gears on the highway. It is improved but not perfect. It will still downshift on steep hills, but it is much better than the stock Cruise Control.
So far, Adaptive/Radar Cruise settings are not in VFtuner to change, so it cannot be changed.

Don’t reset anything. You will hate how it changes the way your truck shifts. Ask me how I know

I'm interested in a tune for my 4Runner. Is it the same as the Tacoma? I understand that the TCU doesn't have support on the 4Runner?

We have TCU support on some of the model years. 2020 thru 2022 has no vftuner support at this time. The model years without TCU support we have a tune for and have received good reviews. We are expecting full support thru vftuner for all model years hopefully in the near future.

List of 4Runner model years we have tune support.

    -2014 2wd
    -2015-2018s 2/4wd

I believe the issue with CC and other upshift issues has to do with VSC.
Last weekend I tried to use CC on 60-65 congested road that I can use 6-5th without any issues and as soon the truck points nose above the horizon, tranny downshifts to 4th.
Same things with upshift from 4th to 5th. It wont upshift until the truck reaches a certain degree.
I drove tunes that claim they fixed the upshift, but still had to use S mode to get out of 4th on long hills. Once upshift to 5th, truck had balls to maintain the speed on the incline.

Just loaded my XT tune today. Upgrading from Max Pro. I knew it was going to take a lot for me to like this new tune more than the one it is replacing. Seeing those improvements on the dyno charts and a few initial reviews, coupled with my experiences so far with Kreg and KDMax, I had to give it a shot.
Haven't put a lot of miles on yet - maybe 30 or so beating on it. So far it is making me smile. I can feel the difference down low in the rev range, including off-idle where this Tacoma engine/trans combo seems to really suffer.
I'm running the tune in a stock 20 TRD Pro, A/T. For now I plan to stick with the lite throttle tip-in, with ECT mode set to Normal tip-in.
I'll post again after I get some real miles on it.
