We don’t have shift maps in Vftuner for Adaptive cruise. I can’t control this.
    But, I posted this earlier.

    Oh man…
Yesterday was the first time I did a highway run with the XT tune. About 20 miles each way on the Vermont interstate that doesn’t have a single flat or strait section on it. I stayed in 6th at around 68mph.

It was the first time I’ve smiled going UP a hill :D

This tune is incredible. Thank you guys again!

I've been semi-following this thread for a while and got KDMax about 10 months ago. It was a good upgrade to stock but over the past months it developed (or I started to notice more) some annoyances:
    1. An inconsistent pedal. One moment it lurches off the line, the next it has a dead spot. Very unpredictable.
    2. Doesn't downshift. Going up a hill on the freeway and losing speed I give it a little gas and nothing. I have to really hit the pedal to downshift and then I'm zooming up the hill and have to back off. I almost never use cruise control.
    3. Slow to upshift after cresting a hill.
    4. MPG drop. Granted no guarantee here, but I was getting around 22 mpg average per tank (calculated) with my daily commute and other driving. KDMax dropped that to about 20 mpg.
I finally got upgraded to Pro XT, I guess, and while I only did one 60 mile drive so far, it seems to have solved the above issues. Time will tell, but with the light pedal it is predictable off the line. It seems to downshift better with light input on hills and seems to upshift quicker when cresting a hill and backing off the gas. I also tried the ECT button. Wow, that's fun. Probably not good for MPG but very noticeable difference. On stock and prior KDMax the button never seemed to do much.

I'll need more time to see how it impacts MPG.

I've seen the dyno data but it doesn't really tell me much. However, it does feel much improved. However, I'm curious if anyone has real world tested a tuned truck against a stock truck on like 0-60 or quarter mile time. It "feels" like a tuned truck should perform better, but I wonder what the real world impact is.

Well I'm happy to hear kdmax was able to fix the areas that didn't perform well for you . These tuners listen to their customers and want things to be right . You know every time we make big mods to our tacomas we sacrifice mpgs for the most part . The tuners take that magic wand of theirs and wallah stock mpgs or very close to it. For the mods I've done to my truck and the weight I'm pushing around if it wasn't for tuning I would be very unhappy with my Tacoma . Of coarse for me to even see close or at stock mpgs I have to run 92 octane . I've tried running handfuls of 87octane and I would frequent the gas pump more often vs running premium . In the end I spend what I spend on fuel cause it's my dd and my weekend warrior. If premium gets me better fuel economy and less time spent at the gas station and better performance, then premium for the win for me.

My truck is mostly stock. I do have 265/75/16 tires but everything else is stock. I'm getting 5100s and RTX leaf pack soon (waiting on parts) so maybe that will impact things a bit. I always use 85 (regular in Colorado) gas as I never noticed any benefit to 91. Does XT act differently if I use premium fuel?

Oh for sure bud . Fack I noticed big time here on the coast especially at sea level. Every once and awhile I run regular gas a handful of times to remind myself why I don't use regular. It's like regular turns down the tune I'm running. After so many tanks fulls of regular my mpgs get poor , I'm not getting as many miles outta a tank full and stopping by the gas station more often. I commute over 125 miles a day regardless. I can't make the $$$$$ where I live . I was born and raised here in my little town. I like the city but could never live there . I've tried it ain't me . I'm a country boy .

    Yes! Data!
That was one of my motives for posting about it. I want some feedback/reviews from Adaptive Cruise Control users on the KDMAX-Pro+XT tune.

How long does it take to learn a new octane?

If it's running fine on regular what sort of benefits are there to higher octane? I've always heard higher is only needed if the engine was designed for it or you have knocking issues.

It takes about a tank of gas. I switched from Premium to Regular a few months ago and watched the KCLV and Knock F/B values until they settled in. It took about a tank.
I personally didn't feel a big difference and have since stayed on Regular gas with the prices rising.
I think from the past OVTune threads that people saw about a 10hp difference in the two. But I am not positive.
I know that Premium fuel is better for the truck since it has the cleaning detergents and the higher octane. But I don't think it is worth the price for that small of an increase.
Also, my mileage has stayed the same. It went down initially 1-2mpg, but since has returned to what it was on Premium.

I lose about 5mpg when I switch to regular that's why I do my best not to put regular in . My daily commute I noticed big time on the hills I have to go over . My overall miles per tank took a big hit too. That's why I stay with premium . I'm sure it's the fact that all the combined performance mods I've done assist this .
