Met @GPatriot last Friday and had my tune updated to Pro+XT (sport throttle). I can't remember if we figured out exactly what version I was coming from - you mentioned something about it being 18mo old - but I'm sure I could look through this thread and find my previous review. Anywho, doing business with @GPatriot was an excellent experience and he was able to get me in quickly and get the job done. Would (will) do business again! The tune is night and day from the previous version I was running. The jerkiness of the throttle at low speeds is completely gone. Much smoother power delivery and a surprising increase of torque at the low end. Absolutely recommend getting the tune if you're stock or running an earlier version of KDMAX!

Thanks Abe! I'm glad you're loving it and the tune delivered on everything I said it would! You were previously tuned around late August so that meant you were on 7.0.
    Enjoy!! :D

With just 1400 miles on his 2022 SR5 AT, Mike just needed a bit more. KDMAX Pro+XT with the normal throttle was his tune of choice. I look forward to your long term review!

Updated from KDMAX original to KDMAX Pro+XT about a week ago. I’m only getting this:

    4B72CB1E-3A8D-4BF8-942F-0F9B221A317C.jpg

But the truck looks like this:
    96900336-922C-460B-BC3D-8E184DA29A08.jpg
She’s a little on the thick side. Steel bumpers with swingout, sliders, skids. 13gal water tank, RSI topper, camp gear, 33s. I was getting MPGs in the low 13s before the new tune. Now it’s up to 15 mpg on the new tune. Pretty happy with that given I live in a hilly and mountainous state.
Man, I am liking this newest iteration of the KDMAX offerings. The truck drives really nice on the highway and up long hills without me having constantly give her a little more pedal to keep speed. The XT tune keeps the truck moving no matter where I am in the power band. No more flooring it just to get it to down shift. Really smooth movement through the gears. I think my mpgs improved just because I don’t need to mash the pedal to get up hills. Just imagine how good my mpgs would be if I didn’t drive like a jackass! Excellent tune.

Sergey's 2019 Tacoma running 285s now has the throttle and shifting to give him the truck he wanted with KDMAX Pro+XT and it's normal throttle option.

Just met TacoManOne for a Tune. Super professional and well informed. I'm really blown away by how much of a difference it made in my GEN 3. I was simply trying to fix the gear searching which it fixed but it is like driving a completely different truck. If you're on the fence go for it, you won't be disappointed. Thanks TacoManOne

I really should find out. I’m not sure if I’ve passed the GVWR. I’m scared to check.

Wahoobie, My new tune is without a doubt the best. I cannot get enough of it, but I must say all the tunes I have received have been perfect and like everything there is still room for improvement. I think this tune is by far the most responsive, best fuel mileage and the pure smoothness of the way it drives. The lower end power is much more noticable and the customer satisfaction is the best!

Thank you @mds08 - I am glad you are continuing to enjoy the tune and provide you feedback! As one of my early customers (even pre-KDMAX) you have been able to experience first hand the improvements along the way. I could not agree with you more on where we are at now with the recent release of KDMAX Pro+XT! It's a result of all those before it and the continued efforts from @PapaRee and @TWDave to help us offer the best of the best again and again!

    JAL,
I noticed your picture from the parking lot at Forrest General, do you come up to Hattiesburg often? I've been giving the Pro+XT some thought.

Just upgraded from the OV Tune program to the VF Turner program. Just prior to flashing the KD Pro XT to my 2017, I noticed the text in the turner notes reads, Gen 2. Did not see any information about the Gen 2 notations in the download instructions.

    See the attached pic.

I'm guessing that has nothing to do with Gen 2 or 3 trucks, maybe some type of software note?

Just in case, I decided not to flash until I could get the opinion of someone with more knowledge about this.

    Thanks!

    To flash your truck.
    1. Prepare ECM
    2. Select Calibration file
    3. Calibrate ECM

Gen 2 is used for recovery only.

Ha! Yes, that Gen 2 is about the software, not the Tacoma Generation.

The size of the files is the Gen 1, Gen 2.
Gen 1--If your ECU is a gen 1 (file size of the calibration file 1mb or less)
Gen 2--if your ECU is a gen 2 (file size of the calibration file is 1.25mb 1.5mb or 2.0mb)
