Just wanted to say thanks to Dave and the KD Max team.

I have been using a Sprint Booster for a while due to the slow acceleration and it did it's part for a while but I wanted the overall performance of the truck improved. I met up Dave this morning and he tried 2 different tunes. I believe the first was the regular KD Max Pro tune (Correct me if I'm wrong, Dave) and we took it out for a test drive. Right away you can feel the acceleration difference. Opening it up on the streets felt great. Shifting was ridiculously smooth and predictable. Could barely feel some of the shifts. There is noticable throttle response whenever you need it. We then headed back and tried out the KD Max Pro XT. Now this was very same as before but seemed a little more responsive. Climbing up hills was easy and I didn't have to floor the pedal. Overall this is EXACTLY what I was looking for with a tune. I highly recommend hitting up your local KD Max guys to get your 4Runners tuned.

I will post an update in a few weeks after I run a few tanks of gas. But sitting in traffic on the home was actually bearable because I was playing with the throttle

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
I also met up today with @sonhn317 and had the magic run on my truck today. I think I said this when I got back from the few block test run I did: yup that's the one! I really hadn't wanted to drive the 3 hrs to Chicago, but it was worth it.

The drive home gave me plenty of time to try different things: on cruise, on the pedal, accelerating, minor subtle throttle changes. WOW, what a difference! Only once on the way home did the truck drop from 6th to 4th on a hill while cruise was set. The downshift happened much later than I expected and upshifted back to 5th way, way sooner than it ever would have stock. All other 6th to 5th downshifts were smooth and barely noticeable. Very noticeable on upshifts was the lack of a stumble as the truck decided whether to shift from 1st to 2nd or not. Acceleration and upshifts are now predictable and what you'd expect. WOT pulls had me giggling like a little girl!

On the way down, I filled up about 40 miles from home. From there it was freeway all the way down to about 1 mile from the meeting spot. My tank average got as high as 21.7 (fantastic for me, 18-19 is more usual) until I got off of 294, onto the Kennedy, which was stop and go for the approx 9 miles to my exit. By the time I got back to the 294 and up to steady 68-72 mph, tank average was down to 20.1. By the time I left the freeway around West Bend, WI, I was back up to 21.4! From there, I took a route that hits a bunch of my favorite motorcycling roads - twisty, hilly. The kind of roads that you'd abuse the throttle - and I did, hard. Was still seeing 20.6 mpg by the time I got home. The last stretch of throttle abuse (about 60 mi) still netted about 19.7 mpg. Never would have expected that.

A huge thanks to Mike and everyone else involved in developing this tune. Yup! This is the one!

Huge shout out to @KH86! Messaged / text with him the last couple of weeks to get tune questions answered and a tune set up. Met up with him today to get it done (sport throttle) and I absolutely love it! Kris was super down to earth, was quick with the install and made sure I was 100% happy with my choice. Highly recommend getting this tune done!

You could always buy a remote tuning kit from Chis @wahoobie. This is a DIY kit.
He has them on hand--cable, software, and tune files.

If not, reach out to @GPatriot, he is your best bet to meet you halfway.

We use Vftuner and a Tactrix cable.
There is a license for the software, but the download is on www.vftuner.com.

After a rather crazy week for running back to school and kid errands, I've managed about 350 miles with a mix of normal and some interstate driving.
    • It took a couple of days to get used to the improved throttle response and avoid throwing stone when leaving my drive. Some of this may be the tune settling in a bit.
    • On cool 65F early AM mornings, I've managed 26-27.2 MPG one way for 28 miles. I'm running 45-55 through some mildly hilly roads with eyes peeled for deer and coyotes on the move.
    • MPG drops to about 23 on hot 80-95F afternoons on the typical 14-mile route home.
    • I'm getting about 21 MPG running 70-75 on the interstate.
    • Overall, except for the 26-27 MPG, I think millage has improved about 1.5-2 MPG on average.
    • Throttle response is so much better
    • It does hold gears better on the smaller grades and is less shifty.
    • I've punched it a couple of times for a "necessary" pass, and it pulls strong and smooth without hesitation.
    • I have noticed it holds gear a bit longer after cresting a hill at 65-75 MPH before it upshifts.
    • The truck is stock other than a Lowmax cover and factory tube steps.

I get 14.3MPG driving around suburbia light footed and about 16-17 max cruising on the highway 70-80mpg for 50 miles. I have 265/70/17 t4r wheels and a 1" lift up front with 0 weight added. How the heck are you guys getting 20mpg. Do your engines ever see 2K+ in RPM???? Im convinced there is something wrong with my 8K mile old Tacoma. Im not sure if I should remove my tune or if I have other problems. Runs and drives fine otherwise.

I have the same setup and get 16/18. I got the bigger tires about the same time as tune, but I feel the larger tires were the difference, lost about 2 mpg.

Hi All. I currently have KD MAX PRO on my 2019, which is SO much better than stock. That said, I am wondering if anyone can share some first-hand knowledge of KD MAX PRO versus KD MAX Pro+? Also, I have seen mention of KD MAX Pro+XT... is this different from Pro+ or is Pro+ just shorthand and Pro+XT is its full title? And if Pro+XT is different from Pro+, can anyone talk to that as well?

Thanks in advance for your input.

KDMax-Pro+XT is the most recent, most up to date tune.
Most the info is on the first post of this thread.
