Sometimes even lower depending how long I idle for. Once I’m at about half a tank the MPGs don’t drop like that anymore.

I believe there have been a few updates to the headunit to address your issue. If it is headunit related, the tune does not affect that at all.

    Oh man…
Mine resets every time I fill up, always has. MPG’s will drop significantly if I let it sit and idle also, but they come back up quick once I start driving. I’m also on 33’s so I use a gps app to calculate MPG’s.

Anyone running the ripp coil packs with the kdmax tune? Shouldn't it be beneficial?

I had a guy local to me that ran them for a year then had problems. He had to go back to stock coil packs. I don’t think it’s a good idea. Toyota coil packs are GOOD.
I have tuned other trucks with them. They all seem to think that there wasn’t much or any improvements with them.

Awesome thanks the input on the coils.

But as far as intakes and exhausts go? They have to improve something, especially when running premium fuel, right?

I have a CAI along with exhaust. I feel like it helps it “breathe” better. Less restriction. And it sounds good!

    9B10EBF7-AB95-41F8-8FB2-729780C0FAD3.jpg Good Evening everyone!

I tuned my first Manual (MT) 3rd Gen today! Shawn had contacted me back in May I believe about a KDMAX Pro tune for his 2017. He wanted to hear from others local MT drivers but I had none tuned at that point even up to today.

He finally committed to try it out after I’ve passed on to him if not completely satisfied I’ll flash back to Stock.

So to say he had “cold feet” on the tunes ability to correct what he needed for the MT was an understatement. He felt like he had the only MT on the Gulf Coast!

I updated his ECU to current and then flashed the tune file on sports throttle (everyone said to use this throttle as it’s best for MT’s). I offered him a chance to star in his on test drive movie but being humble he turned the offer down

So since I’ve never tuned an MT much less rode in a 3rd Gen MT I wasn’t sure what we might get o_O

We pulled out and I had Shawn perform a WOT run to the stop sign (about 200yards). I thought I heard a little scratch as we pulled away. I looked over and caught a wry smile crease his lips and heard him say something like “never done that before…”

All in all he stated “the tune truly does make it feel like a totally different truck”. As we parted ways I reminded him again about the back to stock offer if not completely satisfied he stated as he loaded up “I’ll probably not be needing it”.

If your on the fence about a KDMAX Pro tune for your MT or Auto I’ll offer the same to you on the Gulf Coast. 30 day money back (except VIN unlock fee that I pay) guaranteed if not completely satisfied.

Contact me at (228) 282-0138 for all your KDMAX Pro Toyota Tacoma/4Runner tuning needs.

We started making some changes for the spacer and found some extra power with and without the spacer. So now we are testing a new tune!
So far, the testing has been really good, and we are still getting good or better MPG's. The new tune is good with and without the spacer. We are not seeing any big differences with the spacer added. We have 5-6 guys running the spacer and about 30-35 without it in our group. We also have a few customers running the new tune too. So, we are getting some good data.

Sometime in the near future we will have an update/upgrade for the KDMax-Pro+XT tune. We are just testing it thoroughly before releasing it.

Should I be using premium gas with my KD Max Pro XT tune? Filling up tomorrow after running my first tank with the tune.

The tune is octane learning. You can run 87 to 95 octane. You will see a bump in performance and MPG's with premium. The tune runs really strong on 87 so dont feel like you have to run premium. But its nice to have that option.

That’s amazing to hear! It’s always funny when a new product comes out and you begin testing a new tune for that product and find power/refinement elsewhere with/without it. Keep up the great work

That's great Taye! Glad to get a few Tundras done in the group.

Just to clarify, when Taye says that they "pulled his ECU", she means that they connected their laptop to it to identify the ECU ID, then sent me the ECU ID so that I could make the tune file. We don't have to literally pull the ECU, just hook up to it with our laptop to identify the ECU ID.
