Thanks - Alex has already contacted me. Really appreciate the response. I am happy with the tune and can’t believe that I can get up to 15 mpg while towing my small holiday trailer, but thought I’d give feedback on that one nuance. I know that my case may be unique due to the 4.56 gears, but hoping to help out 2nd gen guys as well. I still recommend the tune.

of course winter fuel came out recently and my taco’s mileage always seems to suffer on winter blend, so my mileage numbers are now inconsistent.

Is there a additive we can get to for the gasoline to simulate summer fuel???

No. Octane booster would help some but not enough to justify the additional $10/bottle/tank. I keep a bottle with me when I travel, just in case I need to fuel up at a sketchy gas pump. Winter blend fuel is like daylight saving time, here to stay til spring.

This is from a customer I just updated with the Pro-9.0…
‘Kevin I just come down 301 after filling up running 55 mile an hour I got 26.5 miles to the gallon so the mileage did come up’

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but in my experience with most tunes...the mpg is stellar the first tank, then falls back a bit. Many times I was excited with mpg on a trip after a fresh ECU update, only to never get that again. YMMV (I will say am not really concerned about mpg in this truck)

    Another Note:
This latest version, Pro 9, is a bump in low end power/torque and smoothness, loving it! Nice work guys, most appreciated!

No, the air temperature is what causes the biggest change in mileage. colder air = denser = more power = more fuel to hit Stoic (14.7:1). Also, warming the engine up (short trips) uses alot of fuel. Also, running A/C uses 10% (or so) more fuel, which you don't typically run in winter.

I’m not smart enough to say with certainty…

But I will say, in MN I hit a point in Oct where my gas milage dropped around 2mpg from what I’d been getting over the summer. This was on +xt and the truck was still running great, just less mpg’s.

    October was relatively warm here.

Also, the same thing happened to me at about the same time last year. That was on the Pro tune.

I’m attributing it to winter gas, but who knows.

When weather is less than about 72... i notice a drop in MPG immediately.

Don't forget the colder months you gotta add more air to your tires . I try to compensate bit higher air pressure help the mpgs Im talking maybe 37 psi in my tires .

Yeah, but refineries start producing winter blend according to the calendar, not the weather man.
In the fall of 2000 I worked in a high rise apartment building.
Nice, Indian summer up until November.
Out building's temperature tho, was all computerized and we struggled for weeks to bypass it, as the entire building was a sauna.
I imagine it goes along the same lines for fuel.
Not to mention that the winter blend additives are probably purchased, payed and stored in advance.

    A few.
There used to be stickers on gas pumps in my area that stated summer blend ran from May 15th - September 15th.

Bit late on this but just wanted to reply and post here.

Mike contacted me the day i made my original post and was nice enough to schedule time that afternoon. been driving the truck for awhile now and just did my first long drive over the Sierras to Santa Cruz (From Reno) and man am I glad that I got this. Performance is much better and actually being able to hit the gas and have it respond is great. if you're still on the fence it's a 10/10 recommend from me.

Installing the K&N cool air intake this weekend so that should also help a ton as well.

(Update same afternoon) @InternationalHarvester is the man. I saw there was an update and hit him up and he did it on his way home tonight. Even just pulling out of the parking lot at Scheels i could feel the difference with the new update! Thanks Mike!

Kurt @kebner came in with his 2021 Sport with the usual issue's lack of throttle response, lack of power and torque and the dreaded gear hunting. Put him on the new Pro-9.0 with the Sport throttle. After his test drive he was amazed at the throttle response and new power. He is anxious to get it out on the highway to see the benefits of the tune on the highway.
Thanks for coming in this morning Kurt enjoy the Pro-9.0 let us know how your enjoying the tune.
