Loving the tune already. It does feel a bit quicker but the biggest change is how smooth it is now. I'd heard the stock tune was bad but I didn't realize just how much I was fighting the computer while trying to drive smoothly and rev match properly.

Had Thomas over tonight to get tuned with the latest and greatest from KDMAX, the V9. We talked about the lite throttle because he felt his only option with his Tacoma was to drive like a grandma. His words. We instead tried the normal throttle hoping he could get more pep out of his truck. He was like a little kid with a race car during the test drive! Super happy with the responsiveness of the throttle and the smoothness!

Currently running the latest KDMAX tune on sport throttle setting... just installed a cold air intake today. Is there a new tune file I need to have loaded or still good to rock and roll?

You are good, just do a re flash. Let it learn from a fresh flash of the tune.

Sounds good. I am going to pickup that Anderson manifold spacer too so as long as there is no damage by letting the current tune file run I think I'll just get with you Kevin once I pick that up and put it in and we can re-flash all at once. Also after putting some miles on sport throttle, as much as I love it, I think I'm going to opt to drop to normal throttle for winter snow... even with 34s she is touchy!

Lite tip AGM style. This flash is awesome! So happy that @PapaRee and the KDMax team can offer new unleashed horsepower and immediate throttle response with a quick flash of the ECU. Thank you for this tune!

Highly recommended for anyone on the fence who might be considering a tune. So much better than stock, or any other tune. Go for it! You will not regret it!

One noticeable difference is that the Lite tip-in will transition into a normal/sport like throttle much faster than the last tune. @PapaRee, please correct me if I'm wrong, but any lag after the Lite tip-in is eliminated. You still can take advantage the of a "slower" Lite tip-in, but the transition to normal throttle is quicker. :notsure:

I read this somewhere here, but I am just wanting clarification. I believe I read that using ECT puts it in a sport mode throttle. Is that the same for all tune settings, or is it different depending on whether you are tuned using lite, normal, sport?

Just to clarify, I have Lite tip-in, and my ECT is relocated to my @MESO TRD knob. The ECT button is immediately noticeable as a sport throttle. I can switch maps to WTF at the touch of my pointer finger. The response from granny to race car throttle is less than a millisecond. F ya dude!:cool:

Alright so I wanted to give my feedback after being tuned on 11/20 and having a couple tanks ran through it. Full disclosure I do not know if my truck was tuned prior, everything appeared stock, I reached out to multiple tuners with no record of the vin being touch prior.

I was hesitant to get the tune in the first place as I really didn’t have any complaints with how the truck drove. So many people claimed it made a huge difference for them so I said what the heck. Drove 6 hours round trip to get it done with quad state tuned out of Maryland (great guy by the way). I tried normal throttle first and found it too touchy so ultimately decided on lite. Upon putting some miles on I have to say I'm unfortunately disappointed. To be honest I don’t notice a difference anywhere. Everything honestly feels the same. I didn’t have any gear hunting prior. But I do feel the truck doesn’t hold 6th gear as good after the tune. It likes 5th when driving at 70 on the highway, which around here is mostly flat with slight inclines. The only difference I’ve seen is my mpg has dropped. I went from 15.5-16 (stock) to 14-14.5 (tuned). Overall for what it cost, and the time involved to get it done I’m definitely disappointed with the results I received and if I could go back I wouldn’t have gotten it done. One complaint I have is sometimes it doesn’t upshift and holds gears too long. Most noticeable on the highway when it downshifts from 6-5, or after going to some large hills when driving in the country. It almost gets stuck in the gear it’s in and just won’t up shift even if I end up going down an decline in the road and using nearly no throttle. Slightly annoying at times.

Im a sample size of one and as far as im aware the only negative review I’ve even heard of for the kdmax tune.

I also feel it often gets 'stuck' in 5th after a hill on the interstate when it could easily return to 6th. A tap on the gas and it will shift.
