Tom, I'm guessing you were at Port Hueneme City Hall getting your business license when you dropped the card on my window, right? RIGHT?

I'm just below 5,000 and Luna has started popping up that I need maintenance soon. When I schedule whatever service that is, what flash do I need to make sure they have put so that I can consider a tune?

I ran the low shift tune briefly then switched back to normal. It took a while to get used to the higher shift points versus the ultra low RPMs with stock. Now that I've spent enough time with KDmax it drives really well versus day one.

 

Did the 10 just come out?

 

Back in June I think.

Met up with Tyler @LarryDangerfield this morning to update his ECU calibration and get him set up with KDMAX Pro on his 2020 Off Road. He tried out the normal throttle and it wasn’t aggressive enough for his liking and driving style so we switched him to sport.

I appreciate your business, Tyler and am looking forward to hearing what you think after you have some time to play.

Joe brought me has 2023 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro this afternoon for a KDMax tune. He's owned the truck for 6 months and only put 2000 miles on it because the poor throttle response and weak acceleration made it a disappointment to drive. The tune corrected this for him! Just got upgraded to 10 (thanks Tony). Since there are basically 4 different transmission setting - D, D+ECT, S and S+ECT - what does the tune do in each of these? I know ECT changes the throttle, but beyond that if I change from D to say S4 is it just the same map as D but 5th and 6th locked out or is S mode a different map? Thanks.

 

Yes. ECT has settings for throttle and shift points. We set them higher for towing and performance. SMode is Drive with the ability to keep the truck from going past a certain gear. 4th is the default and can be changed up or down with the shifter. There are no seperate throttle nor shift maps in SMode.

Trying to hook up with Tom ( @Socalbasketcase ) this weekend, but was curious about some other potential changes that KDMax doesn't seem to address/have access to. One I used to love on my wife's E90 was holding the unlock button and all the windows/moonroof could be opened. I had to have the car programmed so holding the lock button and all the windows/moonroof could be closed after leaving the car. Apparently in the U.S. because of risk of litigation (say it isn't so) that feature was disabled, but any other BMW in the world had it.

Tacos don't seem to have the unlock/windows down feature. I would love to find a way to do that, don't want to use remote start, I never have A/C on in Luna.

 

2ndGens need some love!

John came in with his 2006 2ndGen looking to get some of that KDMAX love for his 2ndGen. We set him up on Pro-10.0 Lite throttle. After his test drive we decided to do a complete reset of the learned values to give the tune a clean slate to learn on. Johns 2006 has 254K on the odometer. After the reset and reflash John was super happy with how smooth truck felt through all the gears and throttle response on lite was working great for him. Good meeting with you John thanks for coming in and working through the reset and reflash of the tune. Wanted it to be dialed in to your liking.
