I was in Denver over the weekend and met up with Brad to get him set up with KDMAX 10.0 on his 2023 Tacoma with less than 1000 miles. He went with the normal throttle and was very happy and amazed with the increased throttle response that the normal throttle setting provided. He had a big smile when he returned from his test drive. Thanks for trusting me with your new truck, Brad! Let us know what you think after you get some miles on the tune, and keep me posted on your modifications and if you need any updates. It was great to meet you - enjoy your new truck and the the KDMAX tune.

Was down in Solomon’s Island, Maryland this afternoon and took care of Paul’s 2019 TRD OffRoad Tacoma. Paul wanted to improved the throttle response of his Tacoma. He went with the KDMax Pro 10.0 with the “Sport” throttle. He was extremely happy with the improvements to the overall drivability. Improved acceleration, enhanced shifting and no more gear hunting.

 

Matt (@BobaFett) contacted me yesterday with questions about the 10.0 tune for his 2021. After a few texts we set up a time today. He was very happy with the throttle response.
The original date for tuning was 8/22 but he has a nice drive this weekend and requested today.
I was more exited about meeting an avid Star Wars fan…

 

I have been running 10.0 Sport + for about three weeks now and I would like to give a gigantic! shout out to PapaRee and the boys for an outstanding job well done! Phenomenal is the key word. I have been a KDMAX man since the beginning and everytime I load up a new tune I am blown away by the improvements. I swore the last time I honestly felt it would be impossible to make a better tune. Well the impossible has been achieved. Running 10.0 Sport + and the truck idles smoother. Getting on the freeway is a joy. Passing is a joy, hills and inclines are no problemo! Lots more low end torque and torque at cruising speeds. A little nudge of the throttle and your on your way. No more diabilitating and annoying fall on your face power band issues whatsoever. Here are some milage numbers that I feel are pretty unbelievable for a guy that doesn't drive like an old lady. Thanks again KDMAX and crew for a absolutely awesome tune and stellar support.

It's been a fun Sat morning for 805 Tacoma Tuning.

We were able to provide some early morning support to an existing customer JR @MurderedComa & his rad 2023 Tacoma who was previosuly tuned by @TWTaco. Although he really enjoyed the KDMAX Pro v10.0 set to Sport he felt our Normal option would suit his driving style better.

As he was in the Oxnard area visiting family this weekend we were able to provide the excellent customer support that the KDMAX network prides itself in.

Afterwards we headed over to set Tony from Oxnard up with the KDMAX Pro 10.0 on his 2019 Tacoma. Due to his current build and future build plans we suggested he give our Sport option a try. Upon return we were able to witness the all familiar KDMAX smile.

805 Tacoma Tuning was able to get a hometown customer hooked up and dialed in.

@unclewede brought his 2023 Tacoma "Luna" by this morning for some of our KDMAX treatment. We even took him for a spin in our own 2020 currently tuned with KDMAX Pro v10.0 Sport throttle to give him some seat feedback. Needless to say he was impressed.

As he does not have future build plans for his vehicle and due to it being an access cab we felt the Normal throttle setting would be the proper place to start. Upon return from his test drive he commented..

I was keeping a pretty close eye on my fuel economy, in anticipation of this. The daily 9.3 mile drive to work/home would generally get 19.2 MPG. After Tom hooked me up, I drove over to my work parking spot, turned Luna off, then drove home. Only got 16 Couldn't have anything to do with the unusual HARD pulls from a stop I did, right? RIGHT??

This morning, 19.3.

I am so relived that when I press the pedal, Luna gets gas and I get a response now. I'm re-learning the throttle, and Luna is relearning me (I presume)

I think Tom and I might end up communicating a lot, just probably won't have anything to do with KDMAx

Tom did a great job explaining the process, answering questions. I was impressed the amount of care he showed with having a complete, step-by-step process sheet. Turned off everything that might potentially interrupt an update, even made me, his son, and his mom turn off their BT devices. Telling a little munchin he can't play his game because dad is working in the garage? Dedication.


I got home and the wife needed some errands, so we took Luna. I had her drive home after telling her how I was feeling driving, where improvements were. Because of that, I had to make a return trip with the wife's 19 Highlander. She wants her car tuned too! K, D, get me a profile for the Highlander!!!

 

Did an upgrade from 6.0 to the new 10.0 on Joe’s 2020 TRD Sport. After some technical issues with the lack of the interwebs, we got everything together and loaded on to his Tacoma. We went with the Sport Throttle setting, which he had with the 6.0 and by the time I got home I already had a text from Joe with a review for my social media pages…

“I had Jeff upgrade my 2020 Tacoma TRD Sport from KDMax 6.0 Tune to the KDMax Pro 10.0 Tune and I immediately could tell I had more power and torque off the line. I even had a bit more power when passing on the highway with the new tune. I will do another update 500 miles after but so far the first 30 minutes of driving the truck I was having a lot of fun. It also helps that Jeff is a total professional and very easy to talk with and ask questions. Highly recommend to our Tacoma Community.”

The results are shocking!

 

I met up with Kreg (@PapaRee) a few of weeks back to update from 9 to 10. As always, a great experience with Kreg. The update was quick as we discussed some of the differences between 9 and 10. Thanks so much Kreg.

I have now put over 2500 miles on version 10, including a 2100 mile trip from northern Louisiana to Northeast Tennessee/Western North Carolina. Plenty of flat land and not so flat land driving.

Daily Driving:

On version 9, the pedal was a bit sensitive off the line to me and the truck would lurch sometimes (I was running normal throttle). Kreg said the throttle response on 10 had been smoothed a little at the beginning to avoid just that and he was absolutely right. The pedal has a very nice smooth beginning and no lurching take-offs by me (Still running normal throttle). But as I continue to push the pedal further, the power kicks in and the truck accelerates quickly.

MPG:

Not much difference for me. Depending on terrain and speed I get from 17 to 19.5 mpg. The best mpg I normally get is around 60 mph. On the interstate I normally do low to mid 70s for speed. Actually, the best mpg I get is going to meet Kreg, since I'm driving on divided 4 lane flat roads with a 55 mph speed limit. Set the cruise on 60 and go. Version 10 numbers indicate about .5 mpg increase over 9.

Trip driving:

Flat land driving the truck stayed in 6th a lot and smoothly downshifted on hills when needed. The part of Tennessee/North Carolina I visited doesn’t have extreme elevation like Colorado (no 14ers, lol), but they sure do have some abrupt elevation changes. The truck had no problem again downshifting multiple gears to keep my speed on these hills. And the downshifts were smooth like it should have been originally from Toyota. I did all uphill driving in D and never felt the need to shift to S. The truck maintained the necessary gear to keep speed until reaching the crest of the hill and then upshifted. I did use S going downhill for speed control. I don’t like riding the brakes downhill.

Overall:

I think of version 10 as having better “manners” than version 9. The smoothness early in the pedal, shifting, and holding gears (3 and 4 especially) long enough to maintain speed is what distinguishes 10 from 9 to me and my way of driving. And really that is what this tune is all about – a fun driving experience in my Tacoma.

I took a ride out to Northville, NY this morning to meet Tim. The erratic shifting in his 2023 Tacoma TRD Off-Road was frustrating him, so he was looking for tune to correct this. Flashed his truck with out KDMax Pro v10.0 normal throttle offering to address his concerns. He commented on the immediate improvement on our post-tune test drive, and this will continue to improve as the truck completes its learning process with the tune installed. 805 Tacoma Tuning and Howie, the owner of Channel Islands Tattoo in Port Hueneme, Ca. came together to set his sick 2019 Tacoma up with a KDMAX tune!

Howie had added a lift along with some larger tires in the past and the stock tune profile just wasn't cutting it!

We set him up with our KDMAX Pro v10.0 and our Sport throttle option, upon return from his test drive he stated:

Even without modifications stock Tacomas/4Runners/Tundras will benefit greatly from a KDMAX tune.
