Anyone that went from 9 to 10… is it worth the cost to upgrade?

 

My opinion is, yes, it is worth it. 9.0 was the best, 10.0 is better.

Late in the day we received a message from Brent asking some really good questions about the service we provide. He was looking to eliminate the sluggishness and erratic shifting of his 2021 Tacoma Off Road on 33" tires and improve its overall drivability and performance.

We responded, and that's how it all began..

After our Q&A session, we attempted to work out some scheduling details. Ultimately we determined that there was no better time than today!

We had him tuned up with our Sport throttle setting and on the road before the night was over. His test drive must have been perfect because he never came back!

Met up with Dennis out in National City. Dennis was a long time KDMAX customer and he was mistakenly talked into trying a competitors tune. He was super happy with his KDMAX tune. After getting tuned by the competitors tune he noticed the overall drive ability that he enjoyed with KDMAX tunes was gone. Highway driving on the competitors tune was not enjoyable at all. On a vacation trip he took his wife was making comments to him what's wrong with your truck? After that trip he knew he had to get back on the KDMAX tune. Dennis likes the extra response so we set him up with 10.0 with Sport throttle. He texted me after his commute that " I love it. The shifting and power is back" Good seeing you again Dennis glad you are happy again on KDMAX-10.0!

Montana Tune Day coming up!

Jon (@TheReal_JonWick ) is a returning KDMax customer who recently traded his Tacoma for a 2019 Tundra TRD Off-Road to accomdate his new little one. He needed some help getting his new truck registered with VF Tuner, so he reached out to KDMax founding partner Dave Durand (@TWTaco . Dave put him in touch with me as the nearest tuner, and Jon brought his truck up this morning so I could help.

After chatting for a bit about his new ride and his 2 previous 3rd gen Tacomas, I set him up with our KDMax Pro v10.0 tune with "Normal" throttle tip-in and sent him on a test drive. He returned with the "KDMax smile" that makes the whole tuning process so worthwhile! He commented that he could feel the power come on quicker with the tune while maintaining a manageable throttle tip-in.

Luna Taco just keeps getting better.
STILL WAITING FOR THE HIGHLANDER!!!!!!!!

Only downside (if you'd call it that) is that all my fill ups previous to the tune were 325 to empty. All 3 after have been 321. About to make it 4, probably on the way home from work today.

It is just so nice to have the throttle/engine connection. Before, I'd have to calculate if I could fit AND how long it would take the engine to speed up into that spot. Now, it's just will I fit.
I honestly had to go back and look, do I have a 6 or an 8? Cruising along, apply the pedal, go faster. None of the previous jumping down in gears and the wife glancing over to see just what the heck I'm doing. Press, go.

Cruising speeds seem to be a bit higher as well. I'm at just over 6100 total miles, so maybe the ECU is slowly moving up that cruising point.

I WANTED to take it to Vegas this weekend, for a real long-range trip. But apparently since niece is letting us stay in her time-share, we have to drive them too. I really don't mind if they sit in the back of the Access

 

Thanks for providing us an update Unclewede! It was great running into you and gathering feedback from you as well the other day.

As I have said before, it just seems to get better with time. I firmly beleive this is the 1st step in making these vehicles perform the way they should. Functionality over esthetics first and foremost.

Soon as we have support for the Highlander, you will know!

Just an update. Been running the 10.0 version but tweaked a little bit on the shift points. Just got done with the regear to 5.29s and 35s. Now after 500 miles or so. Approximately 300 highway and the rest city and not to mention the stopping for the break in. Current mpg is little over 19 on highway and around town seems to be 17-18 mpg. Extremely happy with this setup and big shoutout to @PapaRee for the help through messages. My speedo is calibrated too. Thanks again for all your help.
