First tank review. KDMax 10 > BH 2.1 WW.

Upgrade process: Checked TW and saw the acquisition. Asked around and was told to email the main yotawerx email. All of my emails were responded to within a day or 2. Paid the $100 for the files to self tune.

Thoughts: Noticeable improvement in "power" in some situations. I use quotes because I'm not sure if what I'm feeling is an actual increase in power/torque or just throttle settings. I've always kinda scoffed at all the power claims by various tuners. Unless you're giving me like +50 then I'd just focus on refinements. That said, I do feel something with this tune. Very noticeable in certain situations.

Seems to shift down a little earlier than KDMax. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. BUT, I feel like it doesn't hold the gear long enough when it downshifts. It will downshift on a hill but then upshift too soon. It gets back up to speed great... but then upshifts and has to shift down again before I make the hill. KDMax seemed to hold the gear longer until I had made it over the hill.

I've seen others mention something weird at like 20mph. I see that as well. Happens when I slow to turn, complete the turn, then back on the gas. Like it upshifts to 3rd too quick maybe? Or maybe it shouldn't have even gone down to 2nd yet? Not 100% sure whats going on there.

My biggest gripe with all of these tunes (I've tried a bunch) is the low speed behavior. Like under 30. It just feels difficult to drive smoothly slowly. I don't think its throttle related. Its like it holds 1st and 2nd too long. Just very "high strung" at low speeds. Idk if this is a hardware of software issue. Maybe stock is like this too, idk. Haven't been on stock in years.

Re-reading all that sounds pretty negative. But its really not meant to be. Just highlighting my issues I guess. The tune definitely feels good and improved in lots of areas. I guess i'd just like to see tuners focus more on refinements/shifting/smoothness over trying to squeeze an extra few HP out of the truck.

Your notes are spot on and match my notes.
The "power" WW on 87 is questionable. I see alot of throttle. You probably noticed a buzz right after 3 to 4 upshift.
On the same road &same IAT, KDMAX does not pull the timing compare to WW. Cause I have not seen kclv dropping to 17.9 on 40 mph road with some hills for quite some time.

My kclv generally stays about 27 - 28, but you know I run high octane. On 93 usually around 22 - 23.

If "butt dyno'ers" stop spamming FB&IG, we would be in better place.
Somehow nurses were able to get max out of 87. Same road..

    My thoughts after ~400 miles.

GOOD: Highway performance is greatly improved, as is MPG. On a drive from Atlanta to Savannah I got about 20 mpg (at 80 mph) when I would usually get around 16 or 17. Power is more readily available when you need it (passing, merging). Shifting while accelerating is smooth and natural.

NOT SO GOOD BUT NOT EXACTLY BAD: The downshifts while decelerating can be rough and jerky, especially 2nd to 1st while coming to a stop. A few times, while coasting down hills, it'll downshift and spike the RPMs a bit.

Interesting as my Tacoma’s downshift 2-1 is smooth now. It’s always had that problem since rolling off the lot. Not anymore.

That was one of the major improvements for me.

However, like some have mentioned, most notably with my conversations with @Technique, we have experienced the 1-2 or 2-3 funky shift on turns.

I have no doubt they will fix it. Perhaps let Big Papa scheck it out and see if he can add his magic touch there and also at sustaining the gear until just before the crest. Just throwing it out there at YotaWerx for the ultimate tune. The BH 2.1 is a bad ass ride.

    They have all the information.
They consider it a customization which they cannot do at the moment and they also can deny a request for the customization.
Perhaps you can use your role to push it through

So your know it all self can’t program the correction? Go ahead and make yourself a custom tune. They do offer the option of installing it yourself? I’m not sure if you can change it, but if not, build your own.

Can you master your own tune with as much torque down low, AND without the 2nd gear pause, AND the infamous Papa crest hold that gear?

My role is just like everyone else’s. To have a tune on this truck that is worth noting. ECT included. Not just a 1 flavor. That’s what I liked about Sport+, it kicked butt at higher elevations.

They sure as hell know we’re complaining about it. They can read just as well as the rest of us. I’m sure the acquisition of K and D was not an easy one. Perhaps they are on it now. It doesn’t look good for business. I love the torque the tune gives the 3.5 down low.

    2.2 Deuces Wild…:fingerscrossed:

Yeah, to be fair, I wasn't having the downshift issue on KD9 Lite. Whatevs, I'm confident they'll get it sorted.

So who do i have to talk to get my AGM battery revision tune pack, I emailed Yotawerx and was told by Christian they were backlogged. Ok no big deal, he said by mid next week at the latest.... that was June 14th. I emailed again no response, I'm about ready to just hang it up and reload my OTT tune.
