Best mpg for my truck is about 55mph (back roads). Stock tires, flatish terrain, warm weather, keep it under 70 and 20+ mpg is easy. With 285's I can hit 19mpg highway in the summer months. Winter time, 15-17mpg regardless of tire.

Looking to have my 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport tuned. I'm in the Pittsburgh area. I used the map and it shows the closest is 2.5 hours away. Anyone closer?

Is anyone noticing the high idle not kicking down like it should? My truck (KDMAX PRO) seems to allow shifting from park and the idle not kicking down sometimes. The idle just seems a bit wonky.

    Is KDMax v10 octane learning?

Yes it is octane learning. If your running 87 and want to jump up to 91 or better run your tank down so you don't dilute the the higher octane.

When it's cold, or when it's warm?

All i can say is I believe mostly when it's cold. I feel like I have to shift while the idle is too high and sometimes even when it's warm it just doesn't idle down fast enough when started.

If the idle stays up while cold, its because its warming up the engine as well as the catalytic converters.

Sometimes when sitting at a stoplight with a cold truck, i shift into netural to let the engine rev higher, so i dont have to push the brake as hard. Once everything is warm, it goes back to normal.

I understand, but sometimes even when its warm and I start it up, it goes to a straight to +1000 high idle and I'm in Florida. That seems weird to me. I have free flow after cats and y-pipe with a straight through muffler. I have found with 5.29 gears the mid to upper range is doing well with the exhaust for power. I need less HP down low with 5.29's. Not sure if this is messing with my idle though.

Did it do this when you first got tuned?
If this is something new, it is probably something else. Something changed in the intake (loose) or the exhaust (leaking).
Check all your intake and exhaust connections. The tune should not have any idle problems.

    Hello!,

Since I've been reading that KDMax is not a thing anymore, is there any tuners in Austin, TX? I currently on a KD max tune, that I got back in 2021, and then updated to a newer version sometime in 23, but now the truck is been acting up.. Not sure if there's anything new out there for the truck.

    thanks!

I self installed KDMax 10.0 a year or so ago. I've reached out to Dave a time or two during this time and I just wanted to give him and his team some public praise for providing such excellent customer service. It's much appreciated.

What are normal shift RPM's at wide open throttle?

I have a '23 AT and I'm on KDMax 10.0 and I'm seeing about 6700rpm when shifting 1st to 2nd at WOT and about 6200rpm when shifting 2nd to 3rd. Does 6700 seem normal..... and safe?

WOT is set that way, even stock goes up to 6700. Yes, that is safe. The old OVtunes were set higher - 7000-7250 rpm. He claimed that was also safe.

I appreciate the response. I don't think I've ever seen 6700rpm on my stock tune but maybe that's because I never drive with ECT on. I always felt like my truck shifted too early (before 6K) so I'm glad to see KDMax holds 1st gear a little longer.
