I don't know if the tune will fix this, but PM me and we can test that theory.
Is there a lot of stock trucks with big tires that do this?
I have 33" tires and never had this happen unless I spun the tires.

Not a rare occurrence by any means on the highway or city driving! Unless I have a dirty, cursed headwind which leads to significant drops or unless I use cruise which makes about a 2-3ish mpg drop.

I posted this in the Orange County/SoCal thread a few days ago, but I figured I'd share about my experience about my KDMAX 6.0 tune. Link below...

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...e-paparee-twtaco.707096/page-22#post-25596763

All I can say is that I am extremely happy with my new tune. @TWTaco always replies back right away with any questions or concerns. Customer satisfaction seems to come first with these guys and it is appreciated! Its rare these days to speak to a real person and get real answers, so thanks again Dave! Much respect to @PapaRee and @TWTaco

I’d be interested in what your trans temps are when towing in 6GL. Your TC would probably be unlocked more than usual to keep your speed & rpms up or do you downshift to a lower gear when the speed starts to drop?

I am really looking forward to getting KDMAX 6.0 on my truck next week..... and all these posts are not helping matters.

Thanks @svermilyea for working with @PapaRee to get me hooked up. Y'all are awesome.... I will definitely post my experience once done.

I'll drop it down to 5th from time to time on inclines. Steeper hills ill drop it to 4th but thats rarely now. Maybe once or twice. Before the tune in normal D it was constant. Cool thing is that I don't have to tow in S4 no more. Gear lock 5th or 6th depending how flat your road is and your gold. No temp reader so can't help you with that

    Too much.
Second tank on the regular/regular tune. I am really impressed with everything.

30.1 miles is my daily 1 way commute, a mixture of highway and city roads. I usually do between 65 and 80 on the drive. My truck is lifted, has a front steel center bumper, and 265/70/17 ATs. I haven't gotten this good of gas mileage since before the first lift.....

I will be towing my 2700lb pop up on the 10th of May with gearlock. I have a scan gauge and I'll post up here with my experience, complete with temps.

I read a post on here a year ago with a guy describing this exact issue, save for it had nothing to do with larger tires. Said he almost died after turning trying to merge into traffic, then the GO pedal was DOA for a few seconds. I had this same experience in my 2020 OR when I first bought it, it was very noticeable. Minus the "almost died" part. OVTune definitely fixed this. KDMax 6 tune, even better. Just my two cents, but I would bet you a Benjamin that either tune would fix your issue.

Just an aside, 6 is an overdrive gear and it’s recommended to only tow in S5 or lower, locking out 6. Being able to read the TX temps helps a lot with what gear to tow in. @Phich says he’ll post a GL towing review using a scangauge next month. Regards, J

Regardless of having the KDMax, I will still only tow in 5th. Good practice in any auto trans with OD gears.

It’s a pop up so very little wind resistance.

While on the beta OVTune, on long declines I would sometimes drop it into 6th but as soon it leveled out, as I felt the engine start to get under load I would pop it back into 5th. A practice I intend to continue.
Towing on OVTune I would very often have to drop into 4th on even slight inclines and even with the slightest of headwinds - just like the AT did in D when not towing when both stock and OVTuned

With KDMax I am expecting MUCH less dropping into 4th. And there are a lot of big hills on the way to Lost Maples from San Antonio.
I intend to review on Thursday the 13th.
While camping, the phone will be off and I will be fishing, eating, or sleeping

EDIT: towing trans temps on OVTune, summer or winter (texas winter 30f- ish), I would be at 199-206. Rarely higher, rarely lower.

Correct me if i am wrong, but I think both 5th and 6th are OD gears.

Well, it turns out that I didn't have to wait till next week. And I was able to get it right here in the Knoxville area.
Got the KDMAX 6.0 tune today and I am really happy with it, even though its only been a few miles.

My (very early) first impressions are as follows:

    1. Throttle response is way way better. Initial take off is powerful and smooth. I have read that some feel the LT is too touchy, but I think it is just right(but I am used to a genesis coupe). It didn't take any getting used to for me.

    2. The power and acceleration are much more linear now. The truck doesn't go through the peak and valley acceleration like it did before.

    3. I saw a post with a dyno test and read peoples comments about the power and torque being similar to stock, well I can't comment on that, but I can say that it definitely uses the available torque and hp much more efficiently and effectively.

Cruising around (easy 15- 45mph), the truck feels lighter and less restricted, shift points(up and down) seem to be right on. Driving is nice and smooth.
Punching it and taking off (that is, pressing pedal down evenly as I pick up speed), it accelerates quickly and smoothly, shifts appropriately, and gets up to speed faster than it did before- without that feeling that the truck was trying to make up its mind about what to do.
Again, this is my very early first drive impressions. I am very pleased so far. I will burn through a few tanks of gas and come back to update.
    Thank you @PapaRee and @svermilyea

Not wrong. However, the manual appears to only treat 6 as an overdrive gear when towing. It advises to tow in S5 or lower, locking out 6. (Pg 186)
