Welp review my post 527 and you'll see how happy I was with my KDTUNE 6.0. So I've ran a couple of tanks of gas (Regular) thru my truck and here are my results. I may compare at times so read carefully. I am averaging according to my computer 20-22 MPG in town with the KDMAX 6.0 LT. Yes I am driving like a sane person and I do coast up to stop lights and to the car ahead of me in traffic. But no one on the road seems to complain and no one is showing me they're IQ with the middle finger. When I get on the highway I am getting 24-26 MPG with the cruise control on at 69-71 MPH. I am convinced this is the MPG I will get with highway driving. I hear so many people complain about their highway mileage and using a pedal commander. But I tuned and throw the pedal commander away and haven't looked back since. Am anxiously awaiting for the tundra (2022) to see what it will look like then wait to see what KDMAX can do with it. I am as happy as I can be with this tune. I hope those who are sitting on the fence read this about my GEN 3 atkinson equipped taco and make a decision.

I've only got 20ish miles on the 87 LT tune from @MGMSangTaco and am already impressed, love being able to go up a steady grade and have the truck hold a gear without bogging. Cruise shift points are way better. Looking forward to it settling in, my camping trip that involves quite a few mountain passes should be a much more pleasant drive now!

All I can say is that I made it through ALL the post from the beginning today and am convinced. Now just need to decide on buying the software and doing it myself (which is my tendency) or having someone do it. Just want to say thanks for all the posts and information as well as Kreg, Dave and those that tested! Next on my to do list..........

    I'm on 285/75/17s. 34's only been on for 400 miles. I drive 200mi/month. 3 mile trips 15x a week.

Just tried the ECT button on these wheels for the first time. Seems like it does go a little faster or I'm heavier on the gas pedal.

So KD will act similar to fulltime ECT?

Only 2300 miles on the taco. It takes me a month plus to go thru a tank. I'm not sure how KD will adapt to my driving.

Get the software, tatrix & cable. It'll save you time and money in the long run.

I second this question, except I have a stock rig. Is the tune like full time ECT? Not sure I would like that but somewhere in between ECT and stock may me nice.

It is better then driving in ECT. I will let the tuners answer in detail, but its a whole new engine.

    Not at all.

The best way I can describe it, with KDmax Wife-Tip the truck behaves as you would have expected from the factory. From there you can try more aggressive tip-ins to suite your throttle response taste.

Not sure exactly how to explain my driving experience after the tune settles but I have never had the need to turn on ECT except when I was comparing driving modes in D or when I tow my camper in S. The normal driving feel is definitely not like full time ECT but it’s so much better than stock that you won’t even think about ECT until you want or need it.

The KDMax (Katie Max) is much better than full-time ECT. MUCH. After you're KDMaxed you can actually use ECT for what is was meant for - hauling and towing.
You and Katie will grow to adapt to each other, just like any successful relationship :D

Looks like the LT tune is right up your alley with those size tires, possibly even the RT

Why not have KDMax make a tune for the Mag supercharger guys? Might get a lot more out of it and make that $7k worth it. I have the Magnuson sitting in my storage until i get the space to do it.

Think of all the times your truck has done something that makes you wonder WTF is going on. My personal favorite was giving more and more gas with no reaction, followed by a sudden double downshift and revving to the moon.

I have a little over 100 miles with the LT tune. It just does what you think it SHOULD do all the time. I wasn't going to sell the truck or anything, it was just very annoying to drive, especially compared to the excellent transmission from my ex-wife's 2018 Wrangler. Now I don't miss that Jeep at all.

It’s going to happen and we have already started discussions about it, just a matter of when / no eta right now. If that means I have to fly Kreg out here to make a trip to the local dyno and use my truck as a tester for a KD maggie tune then that’s what we’ll do. It’s going to take some time to flush things out etc as we all have busy lives outside of the busy KD tuning biz, plus we collectively have a lot of EFI learning to do. But it will happen.

My goal is to run a smaller pulley and incorporate all the badass things about KD and/or 2.0 into the tune. If we can get to that point, the 3rd gen will shine. Matt at OV has been very helpful in regards to hearing our concerns and has talked about releasing FI guides in the future, and he is one of the most knowledgeable about the 3.5L (or pretty much any toyota engine) in the country. Personally I have a couple EFI books on the way to me to learn up the best I can.

I would love to get tuned up in Michigan this summer; one question I'm not sure I've found answered (though undoubtedly it has been) is will the tuning persist through any future ECU TSBs?
