Just upgraded from the OV Tune program to the VF Turner program. Just prior to flashing the KD Pro XT to my 2017, I noticed the text in the turner notes reads, Gen 2. Did not see any information about the Gen 2 notations in the download instructions.

    See the attached pic.

I'm guessing that has nothing to do with Gen 2 or 3 trucks, maybe some type of software note?

Just in case, I decided not to flash until I could get the opinion of someone with more knowledge about this.

    Thanks!

    To flash your truck.
    1. Prepare ECM
    2. Select Calibration file
    3. Calibrate ECM

Gen 2 is used for recovery only.

Ha! Yes, that Gen 2 is about the software, not the Tacoma Generation.

The size of the files is the Gen 1, Gen 2.
Gen 1--If your ECU is a gen 1 (file size of the calibration file 1mb or less)
Gen 2--if your ECU is a gen 2 (file size of the calibration file is 1.25mb 1.5mb or 2.0mb)

Just a very quick comment about an experience with the XT tune. I had a chance to drive my 20 Pro into a strong headwind on the interstate today. On previous versions of the tune, when driving into a strong wind and the truck would downshift due to an incline, it would not want to upshift out of 4th at interstate speeds (roughly 72-80 mph).
I'm very happy to say that I did NOT have that issue today!!!! Tune shifted like I would expect it to.
Drove about 72-73 mph and got 17.8MPG on the way and 21.1MPG on the way back. Roughly a 40-45 mile trip each way, against the wind going and with the wind coming back.
    Nice.
Really, really like this tune. Thanks Kreg and KD Max.
BTW, my truck is on stock tires and suspension.

No. I typically don't use cruise control, especially on hilly terrain like this trip.
I should also note that my MPG is improved slightly overall. My truck never did get the type of MPG's some people post. Nice bonus.

Coming from OV 1.4 test test test - 2.0 ,then to KDMax 4.0 to 6.0 .
I have been running the KDMax Pro XT lite tip tune now for about 250 miles. My final test was towing my 1600 LB fishing boat on my normal hilly rural highway route of 55 miles, was this morning , and I am more than satisfied.
I can finally let my truck control itself via just the gas pedal ,empty or towing, instead of having to control the gears too.
I now wonder if anything from the EROM 1.2 can do anything for my needs when it comes out. We shall see, but for now I am set.
    Thankyou Kreg and Dave !
Stock 2016 OR , with fiberglass cap and 265/70/16 series E Cooper AT3's.
Summer, premium 91, 0E gas. 22 mpg ,without boat, 16 mpg while towing boat.
Towing boat was using ECT in S5.

Are there any tuners available asteroid the portland area yet? Everyone seems to have switched to only tuning the OTT tune

Nice truck. Have you ever tried running in S5 to see if your mileage was better or worse? In hilly terrain it might be better without 6th gear.

    Oh man…
Had the opportunity to do the Bald Mountain / Big Levels trail while I’m in VA for the week. First time off road with the tune. It was awesome! No more bumping to climb rocks (I have a MT), it just has the torque now to crawl right up and not bog down. Made a HUGE difference!

If you have the opportunity, Flag Pole Knob is not too terribly far from Big Levels and worth the drive.

    No sir.
And if you want to change your tune to the AGM tune (increased alternator output to 14.2-14.7v), let us know.

I had someone ask about premium fuel. I told em the tune is way better with premium. They responded back after a few days telling me how much better the tune was and they loved it . I preach all the time about using premium fuel and being tuned the benefits are there you just gotta up your octane . Today I got 147 miles on a 1/4 tank, to me that's freaking awesome . Again keeping it at 60mph . Who ever follows knows how my truck is set up .

Yep that’s me. Regular was already awesome but after I read your comment somewhere where premium is also awesome t thought I must try it.. I did try it. Used to be using g premium before this insanely expensive gas prices then started using regular . Been on regular gas since the tune. This was the first time I'm back on premium gas. All is can say is WOW . This time although it already is great on regular gas its incredible on premium . I can feel the increase on butt dyno and 6th gear pulls even harder now . My mpg also went up not much but I take whatever . Its ALOT MORE FUN to drive . I think I'll just bite the bullet and be on premium from now on. It's not placebo effect or me trying to justify my expense. Just trying to get the word out there that I feel a difference between regular and premium eventhough I was already amazed by regular gas.
Edit. My taco is stock except from slightly heavier tires 265/75/16 c duratrac.

When switching to premium, how many tanks does it take for it to transition and you notice the difference?
