My 2006 just got 107, 000 miles on the way to work today (I've owned it since last January). I also agree keep this one and lift it later. Everyone says these trucks will go for more or less ever so I don't think there would be a problem lifting it at this stage. And honestly, my dad has an '87 Blazer and we lifted that in the early 2000's and put bigger tires on it. I'd love a brand new truck, but this one goes where it needs to go and goes where I want it to go. And I've already put money into getting it the way I want it lol

What is everyone's opinion and I know I am opening a can of worms when I ask this. The only kind of oil I have put in it since I bought it at 67,xxx miles is conventional. With 95,xxx miles on it now, should I go full synthetic or keep using conventional? Since I only drive 6,000-7,000 miles a year, does oil "know how old it is"? Meaning they say change it every 3 months or every 3,000 miles or at least that used to be the norm.

I'm interested in this as well. I know the manual says conventional but I've had a few people tell me synthetic is the way to go and they used it on their Toyotas and got 300, 000 miles easy out of 'em. But last time the dealership changed my oil it was conventional and they wanted it done again at 5000 miles/5 months. The place here that did mine was I think conventional but said 3000 miles/3 months. And they stripped my f'ing oil pan which is why it was done at the dealership. Went to do it myself and the plug was on so tight I couldn't get it out and then it stripped.

With conventional or synthetic, you shouldn't need to change it more that every 5000 miles. Either oil is fine. One oil change per year will be fine, especially if you run synthetic. Oil will break down with time, but one year isn't a big deal.

Keep the 08, its a workhorse!

I use Mobil 1 high mileage every 10,000, and Toyota only brand filters. Get yourself a Fumoto drain valve...it makes oil changes a snap!

I had our local Toyota dealership check the frame and they said that it is ok. I hope they are right........
