    Pull out the jumper cables, lets jump start those kidneys. Actually, did they try jump starting them? IV fluid w/ a chaser- Lasix.

    Mike, I'm interesting in knowing more about what happened. What's your diagnosis? (only if you don't mind sharing, I understand completely).

    Best wishes, being in a hospital always sucks. Hope you're also getting great care by the staff.

    Thanks guys. From what I can piece together from all the medical jargon, my kidney function is less than 40%. Because they are straining the right kidney got damaged which caused the stabbing sensation I got.

    My urine shows blood flowing with it.

    Then at some point both legs swell up and I can no longer walk.

    #1 cause of acute renal failure= dehydration. Low blood flow to the kidney shuts it down. Your body becomes toxic as the kidneys can't filtrate the electrolytes. The poor flow to the kidneys is also responsible for the lower extremity edema. I'm 90% sure they're administering 40mg Lasix IV twice a day to push off the excess fluid in your legs. The swelling is easily treated and usually diminishes.

    Just curious, do you know what type of medical floor your on? Medical surgical, Telemetry. Are you wearing a heart monitor (probably not)? Sorry man, just curious :)

    How's the pain? The more you move, the faster you get out of there. Stay strong friend.
