    What's up all.
I've been lurking in the background since 06.. Thanks for everyone's helpful info.
I had a 06 DC OR bought new. Drove till 100k and loved it. Went to a 08 Tundra, and liked but missed the Taco.
Now have had a 15 DC OR for a year.

I am interested in the 3rd gen for tech reasons (it's a truck blah blah I know) and for something new..

I'm hesitant for the following. Don't know how it will tow (I have a tent trailer and a xp1000 on a enclosed that my 15 tackles great) and don't know the reliability or if I should get the 1st year of a new model.

But want all the new bells and whistles and new look and feel.

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

    Cheers!

Only you can answer those questions. I sold my 15 and am buying the 16. But since our sales tax is capped at $300 The most I am paying in sales taxes going from a 15 -16 is $600. That is a savings of normal state sales tax on both vehicles which could be a total of $5000 making the deal unworthy.

So I sold my 15 privately to make another $1900 over trade number offered. I ordered a 16 and because I bought a couple trucks from my dealer, they gave me a decent deal on the 16. So it makes sense for me to pay $6000 more than I recieved for my 15. But again that includes $2700 in options I did not have on my 15 such as Moonroof, NAV, JBL, and the safety tech. Basicly the FP package

If there is one company I don't worry about first year issues , it's Toyota. They are committed to their QDR and recalls will come fast and taken care of swiftly. Besides that , I don;t think there are any "white sheet" components in the truck. The engine is from the Lexus GS350 line I don't think the transmission is new either

My opinion, and that's all it is, is keep yours for a while and see how the 16+ does. The 2nd gens aren't going to loose value, so you have that to your advantage. Test drive the new truck many times and see how you like it. If you bought a new truck and weren't happy with it, you can't go buy a new 2nd Gen again.

My plan is to wait. Real experience towing will be on full display over the next couple of months. The pipeline will be fatter in a couple of months (I think). And year end savings should be available late December to early January. Again, speculation. I don't pay early adopter tax very often for anything.

My kbb value has increased since the 3rd Gen was released. My truck has about 36k miles and is stated as being worth $29,197. I paid around $31k.

Hmmm. Both sides it seems. In my state they will take the full trade in amount and place towards sales tax savings.
I will get what I owe and save on tax. I am good friends with the sales manager and will get the 16 $100 over invoice. I suppose I could wait a couple months and get more in depth reviews, but still doesn't address longevity. Also, I have been waiting so long for this truck it's hard to wait any longer!

With your tax setup and the deal offered , I would not hesitate to get into a 16.

My only question will be should I lease? When my truck comes in and I am in front of F&I If I can get a sub $300 lease I will lease it as my cap cost of $500 over invoice will stay the same. Just need to see what Toyota's MF is.72% residual is hard to let go..

As there may be some bugs to work out of the new truck, I doubt there will be any long term reliability issues.
