I think most trucks that are worth buying nowadays will have ABS. Some of the japanese makes went a surprising time without it on their econoboxes but I think their trucks are all set.

PS whoever said ridgeline, if it's an average joe, yeah the ridge is probably the best fit. $$$$$$$ though, even at the lowest trims.

Wouldn’t even think about getting rid of my 06 access cab for a new truck! Had mine from 30k miles till now with 103k, not one single issue. I Love my truck.

Pick an amount of money that would make it worth it to you to sell the truck and finance a new one. List it for that and see if anyone bites. If they don't, then keep it.

Don't be a slave to the bank man. Keep your truck and pay it off and have some financial freedom. So the wife and I are in a similar situation, we have a jeep patriot that is to small for our growing family. We are going to get a high ish mile Sequoia. they can be bought for pretty cheap if you shop around.

Unless you really need to upgrade to 4 doors for kids/car seat, I wouldn't dream of selling a 2nd gen for a 3rd. If you want tech stuff get a scan gauge and mount an IPad in the cab. Tech stuff is overrated anyways. Bluetooth and apple CarPlay will be outdated trash in 5 years when the next best thing comes along.

Like some others, i say keep it. Your truck is low miles. I have an '05 TRD 4x4 Off Road from new with almost 215,000 miles. Whenever I think about selling it, I think about how much life is likely left (a lot) in the truck and how much it would cost to replace. When I compare that to what I could likely sell it for, the math never seems to make sense. If I ever sell it, it will be because my family outgrows it, and I need to add something like a minivan to the fleet.

I keep hearing about these 'issues with head gasket in 05-06 models.' My '05 is a data point for having no head gasket issues with over 200k miles. :militarypress:

Agree. I asked two dealers about this and they both said they are aware of the perception but they checked and there is no data to support it. In any case I am not worried about it. If and when it happens I will get it fixed. The bigger issue for me is not the cost but finding someone good to do the work. I am in NY and that is harder than you think.

Yeah, Toyota redesigned the head gasket.
    That much is true.

As I understand it, the changeover took place in late 2005 (November?).
So that means the '05s and early production '06s have the earlier design.

I think some people interpret that to mean the earlier design was prone to failure.
    Or more prone to failure.
But I've never seen any convincing evidence to back that up.

The 3rd gen, or mark 3 what they call it, supra 7mgte engine head gasket was also badly designed. I had to replace it on 2 of the 3 I owned. The Supra forums people tried to campaign for a recall but never succeeded.

It looked like the issue was due to aluminum head on iron block. Different expansion contraction rates of different materials. Kinda looked like if you mounted the gasket to a solid non moving piece, then the other side to an electric vibrating sander, the gasket was just shredded.
