    Toyota Master Tech explains the problem with low tension piston rings in modern 4 cylinder Toyota engines. If you do short trips and don’t let your engine fully warm up, do a lot of city driving you should change your oil every 5,000 miles as severe duty not what the engineers suggest at 10,000 miles or once a year. I’d suggest this would apply to the Tacoma V6 engines as well.
