Keep the front mudflaps on or remove???

great looking tRD Sports i see on here gents. i heard some awful scraping when i took my long bed TRD Sport off road going camping and didnt know what it was.. figured out it was the flaps scraping. i was thinking of cutting them a bit or taking them off.. but then again, i dont want road debris (rock, pebbles, etc) scratching up my paint job.

guess i need to find that thread where the member cut them and posted pics. link anyone?

 

Question for you: who cares what anyone else thinks about your mudflaps?

If you don't care about mud flying up on the side of your truck, take them off. If you do care, and want less mud on the side of your truck, leave them on.

Personally, I care about the finish on my truck more than I care about whether "Bob, the other guy" likes the looks of my truck or not. I left them on there because they're functional and for me, they don't get in the way. Do what you want and be done with it!

 

keep them on, the side of my truck is all pitted with rock chips thanks to the previous owner removing them. i got some soft rubber ones that work great and flex over any obstacle i slide the truck over.

I love the way my looks with them off. kept the back ones on though. . . I'm by no means trying to tear up my truck, but it is truck after all. I don't really care if I sling some mud on the side every now and then.

 

I like a clean truck so im keeping them

i had to remove mine to prevent rub. no choice but i think it looks good.

 

I did the trim.
4" off front (7 1/2" of ground clearance)
1" off rear (9" of ground clearance)
We get alot of salt & sand dumped on our roads in the winter.

My truck was already missing one front mudflap, so I figure remove the other, looks fine to me and nothing to rub when I get my lift and wheels.

but back to op. i would have kept mine to prevent chips but it became a hassle when i took the truck off road and it caught on the stuff i went over (when i had 265's). Not a fun sound but than again i still get it when i reverse turn 285's. im probably going to look into making some from flaps or even find clear vinyl, cut it and place it in the areas where i see the most contact from the stuf flung from my tires

 

I lost one off the rear so I took all of them off. I was going to seel the rest and found stress cracks in all 3. Very expensive junk. The pre runner looks taller now. No dirt roads. Im good!

 

And, if your taking them off a 4x4, you can sell them for more with the 4x4 logos on the rear flaps! I saw a set go for 200+ with the 4x4 logos at the same time I sold mine.

 

It doesnt even look bad, am pretty sure if you didnt point that out nobody would ever notice, But dont take my word for it

 

If you do any sort of off-roading they will eventually get broken. So I say take those bitches off!

 

Or they could maintain proper distance. If they wanna ride that close... their problem.
