As the title sez, how can I keep the dust and dirt out of my bed. I have a Snugtop shell and drive on some very dusty, silty roads. The tailgate is where all the dust is coming from. 2018 SR5.

I used the ESI tailgate seal
5 years and a shitload of dirt roads later and it is still stuck on there.

it’ll cut down on 95% of dust

I shudda done a search before posting. I ordered the ESI kit and will seal the cubbys. I've already sealed the front corners of the bed to keep out the rain. One of these days, I'll remove the shell and seal the bed rails.

I installed an adjustable vent on the roof to pressurize the bed area. Clean air comes over the roof and exits at the tailgate. Most of the time on pavement I've got it up on the back edge to help keep the bed area cool. When I hit the dirt I swap it so that it's open at the forward edge. The images show it mounted on the side of a trailer, I have it mounted on the roof so that the long edges face forward/aft.

The only downside is that you have to remember to open/close it. In my experience it works better than tailgate seals; I currently have a gap almost big enough to put my hand through between the back window of my canopy and the tailgate and no dust.

I used something similar to this off of Amazon:

Black pipe insulation from Lowe’s. Grab the one for 3/4 inch pipe. Split it down the middle where it’s already pre perforated. Cut it to length to fit the width of the tailgate. Put a slit on the right side where the wires are. Push it down into the gap between tailgate and bed with the opening of the foam facing the cab. Will have to push on the tailgate a bit harder to close.

It seals quite well. When the tailgate closes with no resistance replace it.

Been to Barrow AK and currently in Argentina. Get very minimal dust in my Softopper.

    Less than 8 bucks.

Glad I read this post (just for grins, mostly, but it paid off). I bought "pool noodle" to wrap around the edge of a bucket for a camping toilet, but the wall is too thick to bend around the bucket. instead of paying for $20 for a bucket topper or an $80 tripod toilet. Black pipe insulation seems like it might offer less bending resistance.

We are cheap ba*tards in here!
