Keeping overload leaf with 1.5" lift AAL

    Just wondering if anyone has done this and does it harshen the ride as opposed to removing the overload as the instructions state. I assume it would give additional 3/4" lift like a lift block. I seem to be a little higher (like 1/2" in front than the back. Don't want to lower the front because I'm bearly clearing tires on the front fenders and I like the height.

    Yes people have done it. It will help with load capacity and will hurt flex a little but. but nothing major from what I have heard. I'd love to hear what your rear fender measurement is when you get done.

    Not worried about flex since I'm not offroading but just concerned about ride quality.

    I was 34.5" in front and 36" in back before the lift. Now I'm 38" front (empty tank and 37.5" full tank) and 38" rear which include 1/2" just from the tires (265/65 to 265/70). I initially set the front at 2.5" lift but now it seems higher. I thought they would settle and I'd have to lift more but looks like I may need to lower. Go figure. For some reason the front still seems higher than the back.

    Anyone who had done this - did you need shims?

    I left the overload spring in when I installed my Toytec 1.5 AAL. I have not added shims, no drive shaft vibration at all.

    I would recommend leaving the overload spring in.

    +1^ I have five leafs now and I love the ride, 80% of my offroad is OBX sand so I am not too worried with flex.
