Yeah I totally ignored the break in procedure. I towed 6500lbs at 50miles across country 3000+ miles in the first week of owning it. I varied the rpms a lot lol. I followed that part in the manual.

the truck is still doing fine 3 years and one supercharger later.

Looked at them. Over priced and they get more Hummer like every iteration.

If Jeep went back to its roots and they sold for a reasonable price they would sell like hotcakes

I did everything by the book on my 2006 Tacoma Sport (bought in 05), and I'll be driving it until my new Tacoma comes in next month. 15 years isnt too bad so I'll be doing the same thing to this one.

    Working on it ...
Had a jeep. Grand Cherokee. Straight six an automatic transmission four-wheel-drive. The motor and transmission were bulletproof and the thing could literally drive up the side of a mountain in 4 Wheel Dr. it would go anywhere.

Unfortunately that is where the fun stopped. Every little nuances that could possibly go wrong with it, did. Headliner falling down, dash blinking on and off at night, replacing air conditioner compressor, replace transfer case, replacing brake calipers it seems like what was an ongoing event. The back hatch would not open, Three out of four speakers working. I could go on and on. Can’t see myself ever investing in another jeep again.

It’ll be fine. They are broken in all that is necessary at the factory. Did the same on my old second gen and never had an issue with it or any of the engines I’ve built for my race cars.

Cl’s didn’t have a headliner. Mine has no AC (well you can take the doors and top off). No radio (can’t hear it on the freeway with the doors and top off).

As to the transfer case, most died early because folks never serviced them. And yea, the brakes weren’t the best but a set of aftermarket brakes usually went on with the lift and bigger tires.

But that may make the video even longer and generate more complaints. And there are a ton of them on this never ending subject

    Cheers!

Did I mention that I have read the owner’s manual too? I did that too. And still refer to it as needed. But I’m one of the lucky ones that has or makes the time and is able to read for long periods at a time, unlike a lot of people who may suffer from dyslexia.
However, I don’t treat the manual like my bible.

Over the years I have found tons of errors and miss information on various owner and technical manuals. Some of these owners manuals seem to be just copy paste from previous year(s) and across model lines and that’s fine as long as the person doing the task is well aware of the subject and the overseers do too.

Moral of the story, be slow to judge others by your own standards, they may not apply and you just might learn something new under the sun.

    Adios amigos!

Darned, my mother only had one son. So if we are brothers that would make you, now what’s that word for being born out of wedlock.

I was just chatting with a Toyota salesperson yesterday while I was getting my first oil change service (only 4700 miles in one year). She said they are moving to all hybrid "very soon" so I guess there's your answer. I know I'm not super enthused but it will satisfy the econuts I suppose...

I watched a few of the video's as well. Most of what I get out of them is the general 'Nobody ever regrets doing too much maintenance' ...
Which for some is 'Man... That's just old school .. Awww Phhhbbbtt!' ... But things that were true 70 years ago, are still true today, no matter how 'space-age' we get.
