    Hi all,

I would like some advice on kelford cams and springs .
I am from Australia and have a trd hilux. I have smaller pulley bolt on mods to suit.. can the group please help with some advice and results of cam and spring install. Do I need to upsize the injectors, I have rebuilt my engine the only mod other that new parts was the thicker head gasket to Lower compression. I have a mechanic mate that keeps telling me it will work against the supercharger. I have discussed this with Kiel from Kelford and would like results if possible.

The springs and retainers can be done in the engine bay. @Athlaos himself has performed that task.

Much more work involved, would be the process of removing the heads to replace the springs and retainers, with the heads on a table.

Okay well, here's some points based on my experience.
    1. Installation while the engine is in the truck is painstaking but very doable. I had to make my own spring compressor though. I also did it without removing the timing chain which took a little creativity.
    2. You won't need bigger injectors unless your pulley is so small that it almost doesn't exist. But you will need a tune for sure.
    3. It certainly does not work against the supercharger. Torque is improved at all RPM.
    4. If you're expecting huge gains, then consider this modification carefully - we're not talking more than 5% more power/torque unless you do a bunch of other supporting modifications. Some will find the price of the camshafts to be prohibitive in that case.

Hi thanks for your information , what other mods will aid the cam?

Honestly the smaller pulley you go, the more you'll get out of the cams. I have a 1.87" and the camshafts are great. Not saying you should go that small though. The camshafts open up the engine's airflow so any mod that reduces airflow losses elsewhere will allow the camshafts to do their work.

Thanks I have 2.7 size pulley with headers and 2.5 exhaust, is there any mods I can do before the supercharger to help with flow . Will the 2.7 pulley give better results I am after another 40hp .

    An equal length JFR Y-pipe.

You already have upgraded extractors, and an intake.

If your extractors were equal length, then that would give you some extra kilowatts. Hard to tell from your picture, but doesn't look like those are equal length.

A slightly larger throttle body off of the dual VVTI FJ or 4Runner. That might be the Prado, over there. I am not sure.

    Obviously a tune to follow.

Have you upgraded the fuel pump? I highly recommend doing so, if you have not.

Also, those UCA's are slick. Very nice.

Upgraded fuel pump , headers are equal length will look into throttle body but the inlet to the supercharged is the same as the throttle body will that make any difference

It would have to be port matched.

That will required the head coming off ? I have been expecting that work so the head and supercharger are matched

Will I need a trd ecu handle the change in parts or will I need additional service to fill the gap?

Negative. An updated tune to be optimized for those cams will be necessary.

Pretty sure you guys have the ability to tune your ecu's.

Since you already have the TRD s/c, then the ecu should already be flashed for that. Which means everything will work. Just a retune if possible.

Actually what @Torspd meant is to match the throttle with the supercharger inlet. Many have done it this way. The stock throttle does restrict airflow even though it looks the same size as the supercharger pipe (it's about 20% less flow area)
