I will be keeping the stock cams with the maggy and probably building another motor to use the Kelford cams in. Keep us posted on what you hear from them!

I called Kelford to ask about the grinds the other day. They said that for most pushing up to 600hp the SC cam is g2g, the turbo cam is better for those pushing the limits(SC or not) but will give up some street-ability.

I was sooo tempted to get on this again. Kept me from the fine line of dependable when in the middle of nowhere mod or not.

It's quite difficult to go wrong with the install but easy to make install mistakes for first timers. I don't think you'll have issues in the middle of no where. If it's running and you made all the necessary checks for clearance and your timing is correct. The install is no different than stock cams other than replacing upgraded springs. But that saying if it ain't broke...

Nah, they won't strand you - unless it's -40 out and you can't get it started. Ask me how I know....

IMO maybe maybe a car guy could tell but only on an aggressive cam profile. Otherwise, highly doubtful. Most smog techs probably couldn't tell. Heck they probably couldn't tell what your mods are other than it might not look stock. CA smog no longer does a sniffer/tailpipe test to my knowledge so as long as your monitors are checked and your visual on exhaust and emissions passes, you're good to go. Cams I would be less worried about as a non passing reason. At the age of our vehicles I'm more doubtful of the o2 and cats.

Refer to Jessie's cam'd Taco or Torspd's vids on YT

In CA, if a cop wants to be a dick and write you up for illegal mods, to the referee you go. And those dudes ARE car guys, WILL do a sniffer test, and WILL figure out it’s cammed, and then yank your registration. But that’s really a worst case and unlikely with a sleeper build Tacoma. They are after all the ricers in hopped up Civics and Subi’s
