Got the mid skid the other day and got it installed today. Glad Toyota threaded the crossmember in the DCLB, made the job quick and easy. Thanks again @dirty deeds!

    :fistbump: My man!

It'll save your transmission until you hit something really hard when you high-center. And you will. #DCLBprobs

Those threaded holes are why I couldn't use it anymore. The SOS IFS skid uses those 2 rear holes as well. Aftermarket front skids are YUUUUGE compared to the factory sheet metal.

Friend that wanted headlights, but too cheap to buy the good black ones, now wants me to source a lift kit.

Anyone have the stuff laying about they'd part with? Shocks, coils, leafs/AAL, UCAs?

I saw somewhere that aftermarket IFS skids were the full length replacing the OEM Front and Mid Skid. Is that not true? I'm confused as to why you attempted to use it, if you have an IFS.

Aftermarket IFS skid covers about the same thing as OEM front skid . Mid skid covers tranny, from IFS skid back to cross member/exhaust crossover pipe (or not,, you can order with or without provision to cover stock exhaust) . T-Case skid covers from that cross member to approximately the carrier bearing if you choose to do all 3 pieces. (I did all 3) T-case skid slightly varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. (predominantly with regards to where/how it attaches to frame)

From my personal experience, which may vary from others, the front skid take MORE hits, but the farther back they go, the HARDER the hits when it does come in contact with ground/rocks/stumps/jeeps, or whatever you're running over. The mid and t-case skids of mine have taken a thrashing. I have aluminum skids. They're holding up well, no structural damage, just some gruesome looking scars from rock hits.

@Bluegrass Taco - Sorry, our conversation is confusing out of context. I'm referring to the OEM Mid Skid, not an aftermarket Mid Skid, which I believe cover different things.
    OEM Front covers lower radiator
OEM Mid covers the Oil Pan

It appears that with aftermarket skids
IFS covers Radiator and Oil Pan
    Mid covers Transmission
Transfer case covers rear of the crossmember

@Bluegrass Taco - Good to know. It makes sense. I'm guessing the harder hits come from the truck dropping onto objects. I hadn't thought about that until you mentioned it.

I definitely want skids, but tires probably take priority....unless I find a good deal on someone selling their used set.

I had the factory front since day 1. Got the mid from Presta some time last year. A couple months later, I got a real IFS skid.
