My iphone won't auto connect to bluetooth. I have to manually go into the bt settings and select my phone everytime to get bt to work. The bt unit is the KCA-BT300. Firmware is updated. Anybody have a solution? Thanks.

I got a Kenwood KDC-X895 with bluetooth and, my phone(HTC EVO) connects to it, i can hear the caller but the caller cant hear me.

I think kenwood bluetooth software needs some work.

I have the Kenwood DDX516 with the KCA-BT200 with the updated firmware.
My Blackberry did it once. All I did was to reset the HU and it worked perfectly after that. It sucks reprogramming, but it worked for me.

There is no way to save settings when you reset is there? So all custom backgrounds, startups and settings would have to be redone? I would be pissed to lose all that and still have it not work :)

My splash screen stayed the same image that was saved. You can save the sattings in your Setup Memory screen. After that, I just recalled my settings for audio and reprogrammed the stations and clock.

If im not mistaken, which I could be. The Kenwood 5120 is an older model + you are using the bt300, you might as well replace the unit. I had a customer with the same set up and same phone.....same problems. The fix was replace the unit with the intergrated bluetooth. Kenwood says that it work and works well...not so. In most of vehicles were we installed the Bluetooth add-on, we have had problems, but not in all....90ish %. In speculation, we dont think kenwood was on par with their bt add-on peices. I even have one laying around here in the shop from were we ripped out of the car and replaced the dd with bt already intergrated. Hope this helps and gives you an idea that you arent the only one.

I just reset the unit so I'll see what happens. I'll manually turn it on if I have to, it takes a few seconds and is annoying - but I just bought this and had it installed, no way I'm replacing the whole unit. Kind of wish I would have gotten one of the newer ones to begin with , but I got a good deal on this one...

Factory reset didn't work. Still have to manually connect every time. What a load of bs. Pisses me off the blue tooth adapter cost $150 and doesn't work correctly.

From what I've read, I think You need the KCA-BT200.

Maybe that would help, Kenwood's site says the 300 is compatible with the DNX5120?

From Crutchfield to Amazon, with the DNX5120 they recommend the 200.

The only reason I got the 300 instead was because I read somewhere Kenwood was no longer supporting the 200. I checked their website to confirm compatibility before buying it. I'll give their customer support a shot - probably a waste of time but you never know.

Well, I think I figured the problem out maybe - do you guys have to have your bluetooth turned on your phone before you start your truck to make it work? If I have my BT turned on my iphone before I start the truck it auto connects. If I turn the BT on after I've started I have to manually connect.

Mine is set as auto connect, so as soon as I turn on the radio it will automatically do it. So you can say my BT is on.

Try resetting the HU and the phone,my KDC-X995 will not pair from the HU must be paired from the I-phone then it automatically repairs each time I enter truck and does so 100% of the time. Also as someone said the HU must be set up to do this automatically.
I reread your last post and your BT not being on was your problem.I never turn the BT on the phone off,see no reason to do so.As for the fellow that can hear the caller on the other end but they can't hear him sounds like a bad mic not a BT problem.

I'm not sure how to set the head unit to do it automatically. It's not the most intuitive - user friendly interface by any means. I've reset the HU already and that did not fix the problem. I just updated the firmware on the DNX5120 maybe that will help?

With that model, it will connect automatically. There isn't a manual way to set up the Bluetooth unfortunately.
