will do. There was one from 10/19 that I downloaded and installed. Honestly , the gauges aren’t a must have for me. Just kind of a cool thing to mess with.

I took the mounting bracket off The mic and put it in at an angle. There’s enough clearance above it doesn’t need to be fully in there. Then I took a piece of foam and hollowed it out a bit to push in the top so the mic would stay down in place.

I placed the kenwood mic in the same place as the factory mic. Worked perfect

    Too much.
I took off the bracket and hot glued it in place so it didn't rattle. There's a post somewhere in this thread....

I’m about to do this install and have two questions for you. Could you post a picture of exactly how / where you mounted the microphone? Could you explain why the break bypass is important in this install?

I could get a pic but probably not until this weekend. It's about 20 and snowing the next 3 days so the idea of going out and pulling my overhead down doesn't sound fun! I have a different vehicle I drive to work so don't usually have the truck with me.

If you look up at @ratcityrain picture a few posts above, mine looks pretty similar except I took the microphone off of the mount. I then just took a piece of aquarium filter foam and cut it to a square that fit the cutout and pushed it in on top of the mic. Figured that would keep it in place and eliminate potential road/wind noise from the roof.

I use the brake bypass simply because I don't want any of the menu settings to be turned off because my vehicle is in motion. If I want to adjust something, I don't feel like I need to pull over, stop, and put my e-brake on.

I'm just using double stick tape to hold it in there and haven't had any issues with clarity or it moving around, plus it's out of sight which is what I mostly wanted.

Thanks. I scrolled up and saw the photo. I’ll give this a shot as I too want the mic out of the way.

Did you have to remove the factory mic or does the Kenwood one kind of fit with it there?

I just installed my DMX906S so far so good, but did you have any issues with the backup camera not turning on in reverse? Seems it only turns on manually.

Yes I did. There is a setting in camera setup. It's something like "camera override" or "camera interrupt"...make sure that is set to "on"...if it's "off", it essentially won't let the backup camera take over the current screen.
Also, make sure your reverse light wire is hooked up as that's what triggers it.

    I removed the factory mic

cosmic65charlie nailed it, go into camera settings on head unit and make sure camera interrupt is on. If you get a front camera, it will also take over at real low speeds like coming to a stop sign or light, but you can exit out of it

Thanks Cosmic! The purple/white reverse light wire was disconnected.

No worries! It’s a mess of wires. Easy to miss one for sure!

How did you get the factory GPS connector to hook up to the Kenwood? Is there an adapter I didn’t buy?

Edit - I just figured out there was the Maestro Sat kit I didn't get.

Please pardon my ignorance but I fail to see a mic in your pic. In my Taco, the factory mic is in the headliner. I also failed to see any pics of the headliner in this thread. Did I miss them or is your factory mic in a different location from mine?

    Thanks

In the picture above, you are looking at the overhead console removed from the headliner. The long black wire going into the little cubby is the OEM mic spot in sport and off-road models. I dont know about other models

Thanks. In mine the mic is directly in front of me in the headline away from the console.

mine is there as well but the old spot in the center overhead console is still there and works well as a place for an aftermarket mic.
