You can hook up an external 6 CD changer to the 8120 and place it behind the back seats or somewhere like that. That's where my amp sits because the space below the passenger front seats is pretty cluttered with wires etc..

As Duckman said - you can listen to all music sources with the NAV going which is pretty awesome and switch back and forth easily. The NAV is just ridiculous now that Iv'e had some time to play with it. Totally awesome. You also get the hands free bluetooth connection to your cell phone. When you call someone or someone calls you - your music will automatically stop playing and your voice is picked up by a microphone during the call. Once the call ends - the music immediately starts playing again.......totally cool feature and no more tickets for driving with a cell phone stuck to your ear.

The one negative I have had is that it lost power or something and erased all of my landmarks in the GPS. I had all of my customers in there and it was awesome because I did not need to print maps or anything anymore. That wasn't cool.... other than that the thing has been flawless. My I-Pod has locked up a few times but I think that is more of an I-pod flaw than anything else. The Bluetooth is tremendous. I could never go back to talking regular again!

Thanks Fish Tacos for the information, now I will have to do all the research mean while I get more money for the 8120. These are the best all in all for bucks and features. I started with the Kenwood 512 and then to the 5120, the first has no GPS, but you can add later, for those interested, check out www.ikesound.com never had a problem with them.

Toytec ultimate lift kit, light racing UCAs, ARB bumper and full skid plates underneath. Looking into redoing the suspension and maybe repainting the ol' Taco.
I have a Pioneer AVH-4000. No nav, but is has a ton of inputs for toys I don't have the money for at the moment. It is a DVD player, MP3, XM or Sirius, USB input, iPod contols, backup camera, and it has a couple video input modes.

I found mine pretty cheap, it retails around $500 but can be found for under $400 pretty easily.

Just picked up the 8120 just an FYI I looked it up on Amazon and 6th ave's price on there was $1177.77 so I called the local 6th ave store and they matched it in store. They are an authorized dealer so no hassles with kenwood warranty like other online sources.....and as far as install kits go....the metra 99-8214tg looks exactly like the factory dash....cant wait to get it in now!!!!

    Bone stock for now!
I have the Kenwood DNX 8120 as well and it is the best head unit I have ever had. I also have Focal components in the front and 2ways in the rear with a 4 channel JL 600 watt digatal amp and it sounds great. I am going to do 2 of the JL 13.5 flat cone woffers and a JL 1000/1 to run those. The Focals are expensive but they sound amazing.

Fist off hello everyone, I'm a bit knew to this forum and trucks in general so bare with me. I am about to get an '09 Taco access cab, and I am debating on whether or not to get the JBL sound system package.

    - Should I save the money If I plan on immediately upgrading to this DNX8120 HU?

    - I do like the sub mounted between the jump seats though, anyone know how good it hits?

    - And I know the '09 with the JBL package has 7 speakers, will this HU interface with all 7?

Thanks for the help guys really appreciate it.

Just picking your brain, what other models/brands did you consider? I was set on the Eclipse 6620 but found some not so good reviews on-line and I've heard that Eclipse is not as good as it used to be... I've read your review and greatly appreciate your feedback so I was curious what others you looked at. Thanks in advance.

I looked at the Alpine (awful), the Eclipse and the Pioneer. I can't remember all of the differences but can say after using this unit for almost 6 month now it is the bomb. It is a joy to use! I can't really see how anything could be better. The bluetooth and the NAV are great and I use the IPOD interface all of the time. It actually charges your IPOD so I just leave my IPOD in the truck all of the time and it is always 100% charged when I hit the gym. The only thing I can't figure out is how to make a phone call from the stereo. I always dial the numbers on my phone then when I hit "Talk" on the phone the bluetooth takes over. I probably have something set-up wrong but I haven't been bothered by it at all. I also need to try to figure out how to override the parking brake thing so I can watch movies and such without the parking brake being on.

Did you have them install it?
I was going to order from Crutchfield so that I got all the install info but that is a much better deal.
