I'm upgrading my HU at some point soon. Been out of the aftermarket stereo scene for probably 10 years. Which of these units would be better, or is there another one you'd recommend for about $300?

    Pioneer AVH-X2700BS

    Kenwood DDX372BT

Pioneer offers better tuning abilities for the money and these trucks need it badly.

Kenwood is a better brand. Pioneer has always been a bit lowball. Alpine better than both.

He is asking about Pioneer or Kenwood. He won't be able to get an Alpine comparable to the Pioneer or Kenwood for 300.00

I've been running my Kenwood DNX5120 for 7-8 years now and still works great. If it ever craps out id def buy another one.

My vote is for the Kenwood you listed

Absolutely all my speakers are Alpine SPR's and an Alpine amp. Just always been a Kenwood fan

I'm not a fan of any sole particular brand. The biggest key to car audio purchasing is RESEARCH. Don't just buy something because of a name. All brands have failure rates, but research the model before you buy it. Make sure it has s history and also some good sound shaping tools if it's going to be the only link before amps or speakers. I run a JVC in one vehicle, Pioneer in another. No issues whatsoever.

Thanks for all the replies! The main reason I'm upgrading is because I hear the shit in music that most people don't and without it, it's just not the same. Plus something has changed in the stock hu's in the past few years. My 2002, 2007 and 2010 all had really remarkable sound quality from a stock unit. The new 2014 just flattens out at higher volumes. Most of my music is on a usb at the moment (pos iPod nano won't charge anymore) and some songs are not as loud as others. When I turn those songs up, I lose a lot of the low end, plus the "shit" mentioned above gets distorted. Reason #2, because I want to and reason #3, I can! Thanks again for the help! Kenwood it is.

I currently have an Alpine... I know, you asked of Pioneer & Kenwood. I've had Kenwood (awesome), not Pioneer. I've read nothing redeeming about Pioneer.

My last Alpine system was stolen, now have an INA-W900 with JBL separates. Phenomenal sound in a regular cab. I do not have a sub... no where to put it but, don't need it. This unit cranks.

I've been looking at this: http://alpine-usa.com/product/view/ine-w957hd/
The wife wants a back-up camera which is OK but, the camera available for my deck has been discontinued.

That said, might be going to the newer Alpine and selling what I have to someone that has a wife that can back up w/o electronics.
