Do any of you guys bulk buy meat?

And by bulk I mean sides of pig, beef, lamb etc?

I’ve got plans to start doing this with a local organic, free range, sustainable, farmer but I am nervous I’m gonna order too much

We do butcher box... like $130 every other month for 13-15 lbs of meat

Get a vacuum sealer and package it up and freeze it ? you'll be good to go.

I’m talking more like 300lbs LOL

I more concerned about ordering more than I can get through in a year. Vacuum sealed is great but still doesn’t last super long.

I think I’m going to start with 1/4 steer, 1/2 pig, 1/2 lamb for now. :bananadead:

Oh boy that's a lot of meat...I'd say vacuum still last you a year for most cuts.

    Per the internets

the USDA recommends tossing uncooked roasts, steaks, and chops after a year in the freezer, and uncooked ground meat after just 4 months due to taste.

Why you wanna do so much at once ? just of the Value? I'd always worry about if the power went out..or you turned into a vegan or something lol

Price is lower the more you buy. Its two of us eating and I we consume 2lbs of meat a day roughly between the two of us.

I’ll never be vegan lol ever or vegetarian so we don’t need to worry about that.
Power going out... I’ve never had to worry about that before.

As a memberBof a farm family, remember when you buy a 1/4 beef, you are getting an portion of all cuts. 7 other customers will get the same number of ground round, serloin, t bobe, etc. As you.

As for keeping, we have never had an issue of spoilage . 3 years in the deep freeze is never a worry.

Pork is different. We try to use that in less than a year.

That is an immensely biased documentary that misrepresents virtually all of its points.

Stronger by Science has a podcast by Eric Trexler (PhD and natural bodybuilder) and Greg Knuckols (Masters in Science and pro powerlifter). They have a just released episode where they talk about science and nutrition and explain why the “science” portrayed in that film was just smoke and mirrors.
There is nothing wrong with a plant based diet, but there is also nothing wrong with an omnivorous diet either.

Films that wrongfully demonize a way of eating piss me off. I had to stop watching at the point where the football players blood was tested. That “experiment” was literally of zero value and was just used to scare people.

Also understand you cannot do a plant based diet and keto.

Congrats to you too! I think that the plant base diet is to extreme for me. I need me some protein from an animal!

Last night was hard with all the candy floating around!

Also that podcast episode I recommended has an interview with Michael Hull about the science behind keto diets with good information for athletes.

Ya, i fully understand. I'm a nurse so nothing new to me. I'm not really doing keto, but getting great tips and ideas from you guys in this thread. Just eating less sugar, zero refined carbs, moderate intake of whole carbs, once a week of lean protein, mahi mahi fish or salmon, not a fan of chicken. lots of fiber. I also do 16:8 IF on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I cant do keto because I have gallstones. have not removed them yet, so doing keto would make my gallbladder explode or have gallstones blocking my ducts.
