Ketogenic Diet

Breakfast this morning:



Got the keto low carb bread which is only 2 carbs per slice.

sunny side up eggs are my favorite weekend breakfast and it’s awesome that I don’t have to give that up.

Also tried grilled cheese with it.



Turned out really good.

Not 100% sure. I just looked at it and it was two carbs per slice which was good enough for me.

first thing I did when I got home with it was throw a slice in the toaster and put some butter on it and just try to just like that to see exactly how it tastes.

Was actually really good so I proceeded to make breakfast and then for lunch had the grilled cheese

I’ll take a shot of the nutritional label with the ingredients for you

really good stuff. Other ones I’ve tried have always tasted too nutty or seedy. This tastes like a hearty wheat bread. Not too dense or spongy either.

 

Took two slices this evening with a wonderful broccoli and cheddar soup that my wife whipped up after work.
Toasted with Kerigold butter and garlic seasoning.



Terrific dinner at about 10 carbs total. I also got in a lap around the neighborhood, have to pair the diet with some form of exercise for better results.
Decided to stick to it but stay away from the daily trip to the scale - I’ll check on Friday to see my progress

 

A guy at work who champions the Keto diet just had three 10mm kidney stones removed. Wonder if it’s related?

 

I miss this diet. How it made me feel and how well I slept. I’ve been doing quite of bit of high intensity training and keto causes me to loose performance.

If I don’t start another training cycle soon I may go back for a bit.

 

Never heard of that as a side effect.

We’re not full-on keto, we just keep our carbs to under 20-ish/day.
I have to admit I’m impressed with the results of weight loss but even more impressed with how I feel after backpacking 48 miles of Grand Canyon this week. We probably exceeded our normal intake and took it up to about 40-50 per day. But we finished strong and not feeling beat up.

 

The Standard American diet is going to be more likely to cause health problems.

There are many reasons for kidney stones. They’ll send those to a path lab to test what material the stones are made of to give a better indication of cause.
Off the top of my head I don’t see why keto would cause excess calcium excretion or uric acid accumulation.

 

I’ve managed to get back down to 212 now.

Two slices of the keto bread I’ve previously posted about along with a tsp. of miracle whip, two slices American cheese and Boars Head rare London Broil sliced thin.

Roughly about 6 carbs & 100% delicious

 

I never realized that how low in carbs that was.

Now this is a thread I like!

I started the keto diet on 03/03/20 at 295lbs.
As of this morning, I'm at 225lbs.

Here is my breakdown:
Fat - 150g
Protein- 100g
Carbs - 20g

I highly recomend it to anyone who wants to lose weight while still eating delicious foods. The possibilities for keto meals is literally endless.

Just make sure to drink a lot of water and try to keep your fat intake on the healthy fat side.

Husband and I started low carb in late January and he's down to where he wants to maintain. From 202 to 175. Im down to just about where I want to be, but these last 5# just won't go away. I don't know my starting weight but just 2 years earlier (Jan 2018 I was over 175 - and that's all im gonna say about that...). Im 145 for the last month.

 

That’s awesome!

I’m in it to get back to a maintainable shape. Be happy to ge back to 200 and try to stay there.
